Maybe its because my nearest cinema is in Tameside but its usually very quiet there. talk about madness. building a huge 16 screen cinema (IIRC) in a town, where most of its residents dont bother with films at all. I mean I saw Keeping Mum and Narnia and there was hardly anybody there!

Is that the Showcase one? My girlfriend lives in Tameside near a Showcase cinema, although I don't know the area very well at all. I always like the AMC cinema in Deansgate, it's usually pretty empty. Although I do like the Filmworks at night when all the kids are in bed.

I guess it's not as bad for us Brits as kids aren't allowed to go see films which are certified as being too old for them. So no young children if you go see a 15+ film.

Oh god, this reminded me of several years back, my friend and I ran late with some appointments. We were desperately hungry, so we ordered dinner and snuck it into the theatre. We had soup and fried chicken while watching with a packed audience. I couldn't imagine what the people sitting around us were thinking of us while I was munching down on some drumsticks.
That sounds a bit rude to me as well.

Anything that detracts from the movie is bad.

As a recipient of such chair kicks, there should be a law where it's permissible to kill the person sitting in the back.

Agreed. This law should also extend to chair kicks on airplanes.

I assure you, it is. I'm very sensitive to movement and such, and when I see a cell phone LCD light up, I seriously consider throwing popcorn if it weren't for my horrible aim.

You know... peanut M&M's are much better for throwing. They have a little bit more weight to them and they're more aerodynamic than popcorn, making for a better throw and a better hit. :)

Here's my favorite ammunition for the movie theatre, small hard lemon drops, very effective even on long range, and does not flutter about once airborne, and they even taste good... :D
