I want to ensure I no longer see posts from a certain individual, if I go onto their profile and click 'Ignore User' will I stop seeing their posts in a discussion?

Yes. You will still see their username/reply box but the content will be edited to something like, "This post is not displayed because this user is on your ignore list".

I didn't know you could do that. That's going to make life better on the forums :)

Of course, if anyone quotes that poster, you will still see the quoted text.

And if it works here the same as other sites I've been on, you can sneak a peak at their posts without changing the ignore status, but then you'll be tempted to be drawn back in... :p
