iHeart my iPhone too :) I honestly can't believe that it's taken all these years to get it on a second network in the US and I'd love to have seen uptake numbers if it was available on multiple networks from the beginning. Here in Australia we have four networks to choose from all offering the iPhone at competitive prices and on a variety of contract options, for example I'm paying $35 a month over 12 months on top of my $49 call cap $500 value, 1.5gb data) and it would have been a lot less if I was on a two year plan. The best part is having OPTIONS - which keeps the carriers honest. When I moved here from NZ where you basically have to buy it outrgiht I couldn't believe how many iphones there were in Australia - I wouldn't say they're given out like candy but it's more affordable and less of a luxury because of the competition.

If a similar situation existed in the US I think the number sold would go through the roof.

i really love my phone too. i can't really imagine one that's substantially better that'll force me to go "i really want one" like the iPhone 4 did. though apple does have a track record of doing just that. larger screen, faster processor and more ram don't really tempt me that much. i think a large screen would be bad, because it makes it really hard to use one handed. processor and ram makes the experience snappier, but the iphone 4 is already silky smooth. i guess we'll see what's in store come june.

I agree with the OP: the iPhone 4 remains the best smartphone ever made. No competition. Or should I say: plenty of competition but no equal.

Many will argue with this point. Other phones check more boxes in some areas... Better notifications, faster processors, more RAM, etc. etc. But the end result that matters for 95% of people is the overall experience. How responsive is the OS? How reliably does it work? How easy is it to buy and install an app? Apple may exercise more control than other manufacturers, but they leverage that control to provide a highly polished user experience, and it shows.

Also I'll toss another item into the love-fest: the outrageously good retina display. Apple really went all-out on that screen, and 8 months later it is still truly amazing.
