For anyone else in the UK that might be interested, the special offer is available in the US only. I've had this confirmed by ihome by e-mail (even though I received the promotion e-mail myself, it was only intended for US).

Someone also should point out to iHome that there are such things as exchange rates, and that $299 does not equal £299 (Apple same to make this mistake too).

iW1 for wife's birthday

I got married 2 weeks ago. My wife's birthday is this Saturday. I really want to buy her an iW1 but they are all sold out. Does anyone have one that they recently bought that they would be willing to sell me?

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but it looks like now these can be had for around $200. There's an iW2 hitting the market in the near future. I understand the new one does not have a rechargeable battery built in, and it's not as large, which in my mind actually makes the old one somewhat preferable (although I'd primarily use it wirelessly).

For a single speaker setup (not having speakers strewn about multiple rooms, do people feel like the iW1 is a good buy at the current pricing? Probably primarily to stream from a 4S but possibly also from iTunes.

These are crap.

I'm on my second unit, and it's dead again.

It stopped streaming and couldn't connect anymore to my WLAN (Airport Extreme). Connecting my iPhone to it and trying to configure it via the iHome app doesn't work either. It's basically bricked, and there is NO way to do a factory reset.

Also, the sound is not all that great.

I'm going to buy the Bose SoundLink Airplay when it comes out.
The current Bose SoundLink (Bluetooth) has awesome sound, much better than the iW1.
