OIC. So there is no way around that? Even as a courtesy for the inconvenience?

What inconvenience? Also they are letting you return the other one without a restocking fee. Unless you always use a debit card (which I never use), it shouldn't really be a problem.

maxed out as in 2.7ghz, 768gb and 16gb of ram? yeah i have 4k to do that LOL

Since you have the funds, go for it!

i have funds but i also have to consider other expenses....like tuition...and textbooks XD

and the fact that i know i wont ever fully utilize a 2.7ghz or fill up a 768gb of memory. why spend more on specs htat u wont use?

You mean like 2.3 to 2.6?

Nah man you gotta futureproof that, your already spending $3000 , another 4k will make it last a couple more years. Max that out. Or you'll regret it:eek:

Agreed, that's what I finally got and no going back now :). Contents of external dumped to internal and loving it.

Personally, I'm quite happy with my 2.3 256gb rmbp. Its plenty fast and I couldn't justify the cost.

OP, congrats on your new rmbp. If you continued wished you should have gotten the faster machine, then by all means exchange it. Peace of mind goes a long way

I would have probably been happy with a 2.3/16/512 if it were available at the time I ordered. I got the ultimate out of convenience when I had a problem with my bto 2.6/16/512. Couldn't wait for another and the ultimate was in stock at the local apple store so I grabbed it. The extra money was a convenience fee initially, but I'm glad I have it now.

yes...FATguy007

and no 256gb is mroe then enough. i coming from a 120 intel SSD and still have 50gb free space. i do video rendering and all that media stuff is stored on a 2TB hard drive. i have no need to carry hundreds of videos with me

2.7ghz is 350 dollars more which at that price not worth it. 100 for 2.6ghz though, i think worth it

nope wasnt worth it, 350 more for 2.7, 100 for 2.6, u pick

um you do realize if you actually do video rendering, the 2.7 option WOULD have made more sense since it has the extra cache while the 2.6 upgrade does not. that cache would have helped with all the apparent video rendering you do.

but instead, you waste money on an upgrade portion that you say you'll never utilize and skip out on the upgrade that would actually come into play according to your usage.

decided to call apple and request an exchange for my 2.3ghz 16gb 256gb retina macbook for the samething except 2.6ghz.

thought id let you all know and your thoughts :)

iliketurtles admits, i have a problem

the one i have is a samsung display if that still means anything.

actually found one tiny nick on the lid, but its not the main reason for exchanging

Seriously, you should have gone for the 2.7. I can't believe you went to all the trouble to just get a 2.6. The 2.7 will surely give you a hedge against the future. Didn't you know that the 2.7 has 8 MB of cache while all the others have only 6 MB? This is going to give you a huge boost in performance. You should have done your homework.

:D

Don't be cheap and get the 512GB SSD. You will thank me in a couple of years...;)

lets see i have 50gb of space left on my 120gb SSD intel 520.

and the only stuff that takes up huge chunks of space is videos that are on my 2TB Time Capsule.

enough about computers... now, tell us all how you feel about turtles!

well.....you see.....i...like turtles.

sorryis this ur money that ur spending here or mine?

i do video rendering but nothing crazy like final cut pro. i still get roughly 10-15% performance increase which im happy with.

and yes i was aware aboutt he 6mb and 8mb cache on the processors. im sure it would also help but i feel that thats to much to spend on any more.

The 2.7GHz upgrade is worth it to me. It speeds up process just a tiny bit, but since have the fastest there is, I'm satisfied. Worth and value are really subjective.

That said it doesn't really future-proof since in say 6 months time when Intel does their mini bump (remember last year, they bumped the 2.3GHz top end CPU to 2.5GHz?), the top end model will probably be like 2.9/3.0GHz. Of course when Haswell is released this one will be behind even more.
