There won't be any supplies on April 24th in Apple Stores..... I just had my "appointment" and all they do is show/demo the watch, let you try it on then tell you to order it online.
There's a small chance that there might be a tiny level of stock available "for the cameras" at some stores on April 24th, but I certainly wouldn't want to depend on this method of getting a watch anytime soon.

This time they are not. When I ordered online it said "personal pickup is unavailable". They are making everyone ship it to their homes this time.

Apple originally planned to have store pickup, but they changed it at the last minute. It is what it is I guess.

I think it was the plan for a while. Apple had to know what stock they would have

Have you seen Apple have an exclusively online product launch? It doesn't matter if it's a wearable or not. They make multiple versions of every product. In fact, its a lot harder to make multiple versions of iPads and computers than it is to make 2 different watches with different watch bands (not counting luxury versions).

What ever you say but you will be disspaointed.

There are 38 combos of the Watch by default. How is it harder to make fewer combinations, e.g., iPads and computers? Apple has stated they don't want the lineup outside the store so the first wave will be home deliveries. Being a wearable DOES make a difference. People picking up Watches in the store will want to try the Watch on, and get staff help to configure it and make the band fit, and ask staff questions about do you think this looks too big (or small) on me, and should I have bought a different color because this blue doesn't match my eyes like I thought it would. That doesn't happen when the device isn't a wearable.

My guess is there will come a time when you can get your Watch from a store but depending upon which one you want, you still might have to wait for that model to arrive at the store. It is likely that based on the distribution of current orders that they will decide which configurations are most common and those will probably be the ones that all stores carry. The less sold ones will not be in all stores, so you can either wait, or drive to a store that does have it in stock.

For those who will be getting their watches in store on the 24th post here. They will be available on the 24th and you will be able to get them in store.[/QUOTE

When I ordered, during the first few minutes, I saw no option for shipment to the store. I opened a Chat Session Friday morning and was told that the option is not available.

They only say during initial launch period. Which is now until the 24th.

We're currently in the "preorder" period till the 23rd. The watch launches on the 24th. Anything is possible, but I'm pretty sure you'll be disappointed if you try to buy a watch in store on the 24th based on info that's been put out there by Apple and other news sites.
