Apple wouldn't include a feature on one carrier's devices that they don't include on all of their other carriers devices.

Is there any advantage of wifi calling? Doesn't keeping wifi on drains battery faster?
Not necessarily. You're oversimplifying the matter.

This feature is a must have for many (including me). The ability to answer incoming calls (to your normal phone number) when you are in bad or non-coverage areas (including out-of-country) while perhaps infrequent, is not an "optional" need.
That's a subjective matter.

Verizon and Sprint iPhones can't do simultaneous voice and data.

Verizon and Sprint iPhones can't do simultaneous voice and data.

Those are based on their network capability, not specific to carriers. Completely different.

well, blackberries had it first, although it was UMA then. And in my experience it worked much better than it does on android. I don't think it's tmobile's fault it sucks on android.

No point in upgrading (for me at least) without it.

Thanks for this. Did not know it sucks.

Oh well, the concept is awesome--guess the technology can't support it yet.

WiFi calling works well for me. The only issues occur when the WiFi signal is poor or bandwidth inconsistent.

I set my HTC One to prefer carrier but use WiFi calling where no carrier signal is available.

Cheers,

A T-mobile rep recently announced on Oct. 10th that they are currently working with Apple to see if wifi calling would work on iPhones. Before they alway said they had no plan to do so, so hopeful :)
