I haven't looked into it, but are there any extra hoops to jump through when jailbreaking on an up-to-date Mac? I remember hearing something about some USB issue ...

I may jailbreak if it's just a two-click process or something.

I usually badmouth jailbreaking because it slows the phone down a little bit, but I'm going to keep it simple and only install a couple of things. I don't want my iPhone getting stuffed up with too much bloat. So far everything seems to be running as normal.

The only problem is once you start, you just can't stop. Backgrounder is just the gateway drug in all that is jailbreaking. MMS, SMS with landscape, themes, Iphone Modem tethering, and all the really cool dock, and flow apps. The downside is slowing a bit, but so worth it in cool factor. And really isn't that was the iphone is for? EYE CANDY+FUNCTIONALITY= JAILBREAK FTW

I have to say... I'm enjoying Status Notifier. When I get a random vibration and I just press the power button to see if there's a mail icon in my status bar. That's really cool! How hard would it be for Apple to put the same thing there?

Second that, What a great and simple app. Being able to customize the phone to fit your needs is what really sold me on the iphone. In hind sight I was looking to go to the blackberry storm. Thank god I didn't go that route! :D Sometimes I think Apple is like your childhood friends step dad, stern for no good god damn reason. Trent Reznor app is perfect example.

Simple question here for you jailbreakers.... If you jailbreak your phone, can you still use legit apps? I don't want to d/l any pirated apps, but just want to add functionality that the iPhone is missing... IE better notifications when the phone is locked.

The iPhone is already the laggiest phone UI I have ever used ( coming from a long history of sony errricson phones)

I would never do anything to make the UI even slower.

Really? The iPhone is literally the only phone that hasn't started freezing/crashing or just randomly turning itself off after about 3 months of use. The sony ericsson I had beforehand was horrendous for either freezing or just randomly turning itself off. The turning itself off happened about once every 2 days

You can still use all the stock and app store apps as well as the iTunes and App stores.
