I'm convinced: iPhone was designed for lefties
Don't believe me?
I believe you're convinced. However, that doesn't mean that I agree with you. It's a mass produced product. It's designed for the masses.

It's not even about what I do or you do though.
And there's the major problem with your argument. How you specifically use it is the foundation of your argument. Survey a statistically relevant sample of the masses and then report back instead of relying solely on your preference and belief.

I am so confused as to why people still use both hands on this teeny tiny iphone
Shouldn't be confusing at all. Ever noticed how people aren't all identical? How they have different preferences? How hands are different sizes? How dexterity varies from person to person?

You seem confused. Individual interpretation is like any other design. Just because an iPad was designed to be used by a finger doesn't mean people won't use styluses.

Read the thread title. It says "I'm convinced". I didn't say, "Hey gang, check out these cool facts!" Opinions are great aren't they.

Find me better proof that the iPhone isn't more comfortable in the left hand. Seeing as how most younger people use iPhone's one handed most of the time, sitting in the left hand is much more comfortable than the right hand. Although this is vaguely an opinion, it also crosses over into fact territory given human hand ergonomics.

I'm right handed and the phone sits very comfortably in my right hand when I'm using it with just that hand--it would certainly be much less comfortable for me to use it in one handed in my left hand.

Uh, no, we hold it in our left hand so we can use our dominant hand to type and touch things.

In other words, you're correct. It IS designed to be held in the left hand. But that's proof that it's made for righties. You got the reasoning right but the conclusion wrong.

Yep. I'm left handed and I always hold it in my right hand.

you talk about opinions and then you require proof to change your mind? Reading the way you claim to hold the phone in your left hand, I find it hard to push the home button without a complete shift of grip.

As a left-handed person who uses my iPhone in my left hand, I have no problem with the idea that the iPhone was designed for lefties. Except that I don't think it was. But given the enormous success of the various itinerations of iPhones given the overwhelming preponderance of right-handed people in the world, I think that it really doesn't matter.
And even if it matters it doesn't matter.

Don't believe me? Hold your iPhone in either hand, relaxed. Leave no pressure on any finger or do not strain to try to touch a button.

Relaxed, the iPhone feels much more natural in the left hand. The forefinger effortlessly touches the power button, and the thumb easily glides up to the volume buttons / silent switch.

Granted, either thumb works equally well for touching the screen and home button, but the other "issues" are glaringly obvious to me.

I just find it funny since most products are designed for right handed people. I would MUCH rather have the control scheme layout flipped as a right handed man.

Also, just did some digging: Ive is left handed.

I would disagree. While that may be the case for some people I find it works just fine for me using it one handed with my right hand. I can touch everything with my thumb with ease and yes I have big hands.

I'm a righty who can use my phone left handed comfortably even for texting. My primary finger to unlock my phone is with my left thumb for touch ID. I may be different but I only brush with me left hand as it feels awkward to brush with my right.

Actually, the the itouches 1,2 and 3 (and probably the earlier iphones)all had the power button on the left then they changed it. It is really just your preference of where your finger goes. The new iphones do feel better in your left hand because of this change apple made. It is so you can turn the device on with your left hand and use ur right hand for touch gestures. It really doesnt matter. If you really care go out and buy urself an old ipod touch 2nd generation..,

Every single iPhone had the power button on the right.

I agree that its definitely designed to be used with left hand, however i feel thats a really bad design idea! Hear me out: Yes i understand that its better suited for when you are using your phone with both hands, however when both hands are free the button placement doesnt hold significant importance. You just use your free hand to control buttons.

When only 1 hand is free, that is when the button placement holds higher importance. For most people that free hand is your right hand. That is when easier button access is crucial. I think this is a big design flaw. With apple claiming their superior attention to detail, you'd think they wouldve figured in the past 6 years.

That makes no sense as the iPhone is symmetrical. It's all in the different method of holding it that makes it easier.

I am righthanded but hold my 5c with my left hand, because I use my right fingers to type, like I am now. Also, the headphone jack is on the left corner bottom, and it more comfortably rests in my left hand because of that choice.

I'm a leftie and always believed I was right hand dominant but I realized yesterday while using my iPhone at the mall I was using it exclusively in my left hand and when I switched hands it didn't feel "safe" in that hand. So maybe its a bit of both, but I could def agree the iPhone does feel good if your left handed and I have no troubles using it with just one hand it feels perfect in my left hand but not my right. This could obviously be due to the fact Im left handed but my buddy is right handed and he agrees it does feel better in the left hand. Its really a toss up and a matter of opinion. :D:D:D

Feels perfectly normal in my rift hand but strange in my left (I'm right handed). Again doesn't seem it was designed for anything in particular, just well enough that it could be used in either hand either single handedly or using both hands, and it seems like that's actually the case.

I am right-handed but sometimes use my the phone with my left so I can lift/carry/hold something with my better arm. It's just easy to use with one hand period because of it's compact size, even if you aren't a southpaw.
