Think he's got that one covered already.

Not all at. You should know that Apple is not going to say "Don't buy this computer now...we are going to update it on March 3, 2009, but shhh.. don't tell anyone"

They are a business, not your friend. They are there to make money.

Jesus, if you would have bought one of the original iPhones before the price drop you might have gone postal.

Btw. Apple employees don't even know when the updates are going to take place.

see the thing i learned about these mac forum sites is that most of the people who feel as though that they have a name for themselves or have posted alot tend to be rude. yall defend apple by being rude to someone who ask a simple question or just wants to vent about how they feel about a certin product or an error with there machines. yall always seem to have the "get over it" attitude. in this situation the man has a right to complane because he spent damn there 3 gs on a lappy that he thought was the highest end model for the size he wanted or needed but then apple turns around with no warning and creates a higher end model without any notification to the people purchasing that lappy within the last month. some come now stop trying to defend apple by telling this man to get over it because you and i both know that that is f@!# up. you would be mad too if went to buy something one day that you thought was the best available and the person selling it to you failed to mention that tommorow he will have something better for about the same price.

Could you name one other company that announces "we are coming out with an update so hold off buying if you don't want to get burned"?

I agree that it can suck, but it's not an Apple specific issue. No company that I know of operates like you and the OP suggest that Apple should. Apple should be held to a standard, but not an unreasonable standard.

It's not that we don't approve, we just feel that you can't let go your sense of entitlement.

As Dennis Leary said, "Life sucks, wear a helmet."

Whose "we"? No-one here has said anything valid against my point. Perhaps you enjoy inferiority.

Maybe I should only make threads that other people will approve of, instead of having my own views and opinions independant of whether other people like it or not.

No, just expect when you post something on a forum you will have people who will either agree or disagree with you.

I agree your situation sucks, I disagree with your sense of entitlement.

What might I want to think through? Not thru by the way! Would you like to pay the same price for inferiority within a short time span? Get real!

Dude seriously... You're making a big fuss over a .13 bump?
And I think what annoys people about your attitude is that you didn't even try to first resolve the issue with Apple. You just wanted to gripe and complain, regardless of the solution somebody just gave you a few posts back, about calling Apple and trying to see if they would take care of you.

Some companies drop their prices when a model is being phased out. Since you only aksed for one example, Xbox 360 20GB, when the 60GB model was about to be released.

I'm making a bid deal about $400

no i cant. but at the same time apple is not like other companies. they dont have a sh#$ load of products and with all issues with the 17 coming out alot of people just got the highend 15 but they would love to have the 2.93 and they know that so a little heads up would have been great for those people. me personaily im good i got the 17 2.93 so its not an issue for me but for those other people that setteled for the 15 because of the shipping problem should have been better informed

No, I didn't purchase it 5 months ago, I purchased it less than a month ago, and if I would have received any indication of a bump in specs, I would have waited. Maybe it wouldn't be as big of a deal if it was a $500 computer, but when it's nearly $3,000, it changes the game.

You are really pathetic. Yeah, Apple should have had a press release

"Hey everyone! We're releasing new products in a month! Stop buying everything until then!"

Give me a freakin break.

1. You knew what you were getting
2. You knew the cost
3. You agreed that you were getting your money's worth when you bought it

End. Of. Story. This is technology. You played the game and you lost. You had plenty of warning of imminent updates from MacRumors.

Dude, I told you what to do. Take it back and complain. If you're not even going to try then you are bitching for the sake of it.

Bought my apple from a reseller, found out they have a 30 day return policy..

As far as I know if you buy it within 30 days of a hardware bump they replace it for you. Take it to the store in the box and ask for another. Can't hurt to try. Or you could just bitch.

I just bought it last week, sooo I'm gonna return it, and get the updated model with more ram and GB for the same price. Apple should give people a coupon for a discounted apple product at the very least for those who can't return it within the 30 day window. But I know what you mean when you say buyer beware!

he just to vent about and see if anybody else is salty about it. its a forum. isnt that what a forum is for. people get on these to be heard amungst their peers because we all know our voices mean **** to the big businesses so cut the man some slack let him vent on here without bashing him.

No, I don't know that the 2.8 model was out 5 months ago, and the base MBP model has not changed at all as of this refresh. If there was any indication of a change, I would have waited, or saved $400 on my purchase.

I'm not saying this to be rude, but the key phrase in your post is "I don't (sic) know..."

Arming yourself with information before making a major purchase is key in preventing disappointments like you've just had.

That and the simple resignation to the fact that the high-end computer we buy today will be obsolete a lot sooner than we want to think about.

It's too bad you feel that way, fortunately for me, I don't give a flying f*** what you think!

There is nothing wrong with a business phasing out products and there is definitely something wrong with surprising people after they just purchased something, without giving them any indication. that's certainly not a way to ensure repeat business. If you have a business (which I doubt you do) and you run it this way, you wouldn't have one for very long.

It's not the end of story, your perception of "the game" is erroneous, and I didn't see any indiction on this site of a MBP update.

I'm very sorry, but you'll have to remove "current" from your signature now.

You're right, you're VERY sorry indeed!

... there is definitely something wrong with surprising people after they just purchased something, without giving them any indication.
Apple didn't "surprise" anyone. Do you honestly think they sit in the board room and say, "OK, we have a report that Anonymouslives just bought a Mac, so let's release our new product line now". ???

Funny, but Apple has a business, they run it "this way", and they've been flourishing for decades!

Someone needs to take a Business 101 course!

You're right, you're VERY sorry indeed!

I seriously don't know what you're complaining about. Weren't you satisfied with your computer before this update? Whats all the complaining about now only because they bumped the speed by a mere .13 Hz? Welcome to the world of technology...this happens all the time.

LOL if this happened to me, I would have it changed out for the new one. There would be no and if or but about it. I would climb to the top and talk to the right person. I WOULD have the new one. 30 days or less?! you have much ground to stand on my friend, you just have to know who, and what to say! :D

Yeah, I'm a troll because I have an opposing viewpoint to the brainwashed.
Kill self!
It's not about anyone being "brainwashed". You're complaining because you don't like how free enterprise, economics and standard ethical business practices operate. You lack a basic understanding of the most basic fundamentals of how to operate a successful business. You can't honestly expect those who understand these things not to challenge you.

Return policy is 14 days, not 30. And, for any open computer, there is the 10% restocking fee. Therefore, even if they do let you return it, you will more than likely have to pay the restocking fee. Why should Apple take a hit because you're whining about them updating a 5 month old product? Also, whoever you talk to, probably didn't know about the updates either, and they're used to this happening every time products are refreshed.

What might I want to think through? Not thru by the way! Would you like to pay the same price for inferiority within a short time span? Get real!

You need to think. Why does Apple exist. What business are they in. You bought the computer you bought when you bought it. Now there is a new one out. STOP WHINING. It's life. THINK.

jeeez.

At least someone gets it.

These pretentious tards can be as rude as they want, I can dish out plenty myself.

Ohhhh, yeah. that's gonna help. Again, you really need to think things out.

Whose "we"? No-one here has said anything valid against my point. Perhaps you enjoy inferiority.

yawn.

I'm making a bid deal about $400

No one owes you $400.

I khnow, insult the users again, that will get you that cash?

think. just stop crying long enough to think.

The problem is, you're wrong. I don't see that anyone has successfully challenged anything at all. By stating that Apple shouldn't announce that they plan to do something, and phase other products out, doesn't negate that I (and most other reasonable people) believe that type of practice to be unethical, unfair, etc. Who wants to unknowingly purchase a high end product, only to find out that product has been discontinued and that something else, of the same price - has taken its place, within a month? That certainly leaves a bitter taste in my mouth towards Apple, and I know others share the same feelings. You may not think that it matters, but then again, I don't think your opinion matters, since I find it absurd.
