I have a folio for when I want to go caseless. Day to day though I keep it in an otterbox. Hated it at first and was rebellious, it provides the best protection though. Been using on and off since the release of 4S and it's still flawless.

What I do to combat those bumper scratches is buy cheap screen protectors, cut them in to strips and wrap them around the antenna. Seems to have worked so far.

Do they bend around the corners?

Can, not will. Depends on the drop. There's no hard and fast rule despite your assertion. Plenty of people have dropped their phones without breaking them.

Where does this "If it doesn't happen to me it can't possibly ever happen to anyone" mindet come from?

That's what I call level 1 thinking. The analysis doesn't go deeper than 1 level. ' I have never worn a seat belt and I am still alive-therefore seat belts don't do anything'. ' I don't have scratches on my phone-therefore your phone can't get scratched'.

The problem I have with not using a case is having the camera lens scratched, thus ruining picture qualîty.

If the camera lens does get scratched, and it actually starts degrading your picture quality, go to an apple store and pay $29 for a new back plate.

..Just be mindful of the surface you're putting your iPhone on and you'll probably never need to replace the back...if you want to re-sell the phone go buy a new back plate right before you do so it's pristine.

I have my 4S wrapped in carbon fiber skin around the antenna and the back plate, the front plate I have a Belkin clear visor protector and for a case, I have a Game Boy Rubber case. Works fine for me.

I understood the marks weren't actually scratches but polish marks - http://news.softpedia.com/news/Excl...-of-iPhone-4-Scratched-by-Bumper-151542.shtml - see Comment 6...

My 32GB iP4 has these same marks so I'm going to give it a try.

No, they are scratches in the clear coat. Some of the early iPhone 4's did not have a clear coat-this was added later becuase of antennagate. The 4S has clear coat. Scotch-brite is very abrasive and will scratch it more. I would try a small dab of car polish on a clean rag and gently polish it and see if that helps.

No, the ipod Touch is polished aluminum or similar metal. It has no clear coating and polishes up really nice. The iphone 4 and 4S have a clear coat on the metal band. Polishing won't work. You would have to strip the clear coat then re-apply. Too much work.

Link to this case please.

i got em from ebay. i think those links r being blocked here so im gonna send u a PM

Get a wrap for the antenna. I got one from eBay. 8 dollars shipped. Black matte antenna wrap + white iphone = awesome looking.

But yea that's your best bet, it'll cover the existing scratches and prevent new ones.

Just search iPhone 4S antenna wrap on eBay...lot's of different vendors/colors/styles.

I swear by my Belkin Grip Vue. I have had 2 and they've both been great as far as protection. They are about $30 at Best Buy but if you look on eBay you will find them as low as 5 or 10. I originally bought a clear one, and I advise you don't do that. They quickly turn yellow and look gross. I replaced that with a smoky gray colored one. I believe they have other colors too, but I don't like my phone to look blingy.

I take the Grip Vue off my phone once every couple of months and it has never made polish marks or scratches on my antenna band. I have front and back protectors on my iPhone 4 and it works well with those--it's the only case I've ever had that does not try to peel up the screen protector. It just fits right around it. It's also a very smoothly polished rubber on the outside, so it slides into my pocket very easily.

I have also dropped my phone several times with the Grip Vue on and never had any damage. I did drop my iPhone once on my bathroom tile WITHOUT a case on it (was trying to clean off my phone and deal with my 4 year old son at the same time) and shattered the front glass.

In my mind, even if the case makes some minor marks on your antenna, it's still better than broken glass. I had to pay $200 to get that replaced.

Surprised how iPhone 4/4S' antenna scratches, but it's still nothing compared to have easily 3GS' chrome scratches.

The problem I have with not using a case is having the camera lens scratched, thus ruining picture qualîty.

Hopefully the camera lens is recessed in the next iPhone.

I agree, had a grip vue on my 4G iPod touch and I loved that case. I like cases that cover the home button portion.

And I actually found some cheap grip vue iPhone cases on eBay the other day, I think I'll order them.

That case really is good though, with that texture on the back.

i used my iPhone 4 without a case for 1,5 years and it got scratches all over so i decided to get a case for my new white iPhone 4S.

it's from china and avab in all kind of colors and they even fake the apple logo, the iphone writing and the approval stuff perfectly ^^ it looks like its really part of the phone

Where did you purchase this case. Link? Thanks

Well I've been using Pinlo Slice 3 on my 4S for about 4 months now and not a single scratch on the bands or the back...

This looks a lot like the Desmay. Did you purchase it directly from their website, or is there a better deal somewhere? Thanks

Those are nice cases but offer no protection on the front.

Depending on what case you use. I've used case on my iphone 4 and even on 4S and yet there are no scratches on my stainless steel band. I've been using SGP case, and now using the vapor Comp Element case and yet no scratches at all.

Did you bother removing it occasionally and cleaning it or did you figure that partials of dirt and what not were not going to scratch when trapped against it ?

I like how this comment is thumbed down... people are idiots. Putting a case on your phone is not going to keep it from scratching. You still need to take it off and wipe it off every now and then. Don't believe me? I will show you a nearly year and a half old iPhone 4 that I have had in a case since day one without a blemish on it.

I am too.. so the first thing i did was to vote it up instead.
I think there are too many who are not willing to take responsibility for their own actions and clearly wants to ignore facts instead of learning or reading it in respect for the other.

I guess there is more of the ignorant kind than the respectful kind on forums. Which is really sad, the discussions would evolve so much more if people where not so negative about negative things and try to look at it from another point of view.

Is Pinlo Slice 3 durable? It's so thin!

Could you please post some pics of it? There is very little information on it on the web.

Not my pics but from a user of a similar forum here in Slovenia...I'm using the same black one

The case is intended mainly to protect your phone from scratches not random drops. I really don't like cases especially bulky ones, heck even apple bumper seems too much for me since it's a really beautiful device so I went with this one. And yes, the case is really thin, you can see apple logo and the writings right through it but it does the job it's intended for.

Nice pics, I actually really love the look of that case. Maybe for my next iPhone......

Thanks! That case really does look great.

Yeah I never use screen protector / silicon or any soft case for my iPhone. I only use SGP skinguard on my back and that's about it. I feel it necessary because iPhone backplate apparently not as good as the frontglass. Plus the back always in contact with many surfaces. It sticks up very well, no scratch indeed.

I took a chance once on SGP ultra crystal I got from skinguard package. Put it on screen and a week later it shows some micro scratches. I ended put it off.

Now my iPhone screen going bare naked for almost a month, not a single scratch on it. So much for protection, huh? So, unless I get it for free. I wouldnt bother looking for any bumper/soft case and screen protector for my iPhone.
