What I do to combat those bumper scratches is buy cheap screen protectors, cut them in to strips and wrap them around the antenna. Seems to have worked so far.
Can, not will. Depends on the drop. There's no hard and fast rule despite your assertion. Plenty of people have dropped their phones without breaking them.
Where does this "If it doesn't happen to me it can't possibly ever happen to anyone" mindet come from?
The problem I have with not using a case is having the camera lens scratched, thus ruining picture qualîty.
I understood the marks weren't actually scratches but polish marks - http://news.softpedia.com/news/Excl...-of-iPhone-4-Scratched-by-Bumper-151542.shtml - see Comment 6...
My 32GB iP4 has these same marks so I'm going to give it a try.
No, the ipod Touch is polished aluminum or similar metal. It has no clear coating and polishes up really nice. The iphone 4 and 4S have a clear coat on the metal band. Polishing won't work. You would have to strip the clear coat then re-apply. Too much work.

Link to this case please.

I swear by my Belkin Grip Vue. I have had 2 and they've both been great as far as protection. They are about $30 at Best Buy but if you look on eBay you will find them as low as 5 or 10. I originally bought a clear one, and I advise you don't do that. They quickly turn yellow and look gross. I replaced that with a smoky gray colored one. I believe they have other colors too, but I don't like my phone to look blingy.
I take the Grip Vue off my phone once every couple of months and it has never made polish marks or scratches on my antenna band. I have front and back protectors on my iPhone 4 and it works well with those--it's the only case I've ever had that does not try to peel up the screen protector. It just fits right around it. It's also a very smoothly polished rubber on the outside, so it slides into my pocket very easily.
I have also dropped my phone several times with the Grip Vue on and never had any damage. I did drop my iPhone once on my bathroom tile WITHOUT a case on it (was trying to clean off my phone and deal with my 4 year old son at the same time) and shattered the front glass.
In my mind, even if the case makes some minor marks on your antenna, it's still better than broken glass. I had to pay $200 to get that replaced.
i used my iPhone 4 without a case for 1,5 years and it got scratches all over so i decided to get a case for my new white iPhone 4S.
it's from china and avab in all kind of colors and they even fake the apple logo, the iphone writing and the approval stuff perfectly ^^ it looks like its really part of the phone

Well I've been using Pinlo Slice 3 on my 4S for about 4 months now and not a single scratch on the bands or the back...
Where did you purchase this case. Link? Thanks
This looks a lot like the Desmay. Did you purchase it directly from their website, or is there a better deal somewhere? Thanks
Did you bother removing it occasionally and cleaning it or did you figure that partials of dirt and what not were not going to scratch when trapped against it ?
I like how this comment is thumbed down... people are idiots. Putting a case on your phone is not going to keep it from scratching. You still need to take it off and wipe it off every now and then. Don't believe me? I will show you a nearly year and a half old iPhone 4 that I have had in a case since day one without a blemish on it.

Is Pinlo Slice 3 durable? It's so thin!
Could you please post some pics of it? There is very little information on it on the web.
Not my pics but from a user of a similar forum here in Slovenia...I'm using the same black one

The case is intended mainly to protect your phone from scratches not random drops. I really don't like cases especially bulky ones, heck even apple bumper seems too much for me since it's a really beautiful device so I went with this one. And yes, the case is really thin, you can see apple logo and the writings right through it but it does the job it's intended for.
