i love AT&T so much.. we get the best 3G service with HSPA+, advantage of a GSM network.. great customer service (my experiences) discounts and early upgrades. No activation fee. AT&T was the first and best to get the iPhone. Of course I can surf and talk on the phone..

agreed. looking up movie times while on the phone making Friday night plans? check mail for address/link while giving directions to friend on phone? done deal. I don't know how anyone could go with Verizon or Sprint just for that fact alone.
(btw, interesting name...o_O)

+1

Love AT&T, 3G is blazing fast on my iPhone.

Something no one mentioned, is that Siri problems were widely reported on all carriers. Siri had a hard time handling the load. By "can't connect to network" it means that it can't get to apples servers, not that it can't connect to sprint (and all of those issues.)

The title of this post is disturbing. The worst part is that i'm sure a ton of sheeple feel just like you too all over a phone.

Not exactly a serious title... just frustrated with a phone and posting about those frustrations on the forum dedicated to that phone. I don't see what's wrong with that?

The whole thing about how other smartphones are better on Sprint is true... that's why I mentioned it in my first post, my friend has an Evo 4G on Sprint and I took a look at it before switching to make sure the coverage was okay. He was getting equally as good if not faster speeds than my Focus on AT&T. That's what confused me after I switched; it's like a guessing game whether or not it'll work at any given moment. Don't get me wrong, when it's working and fine it's pretty fast, but the non-working times are equal to or greater than the working times.

Did you tell Siri how you feel? She may be able to suggest some places that offer counseling.

I don't think Sprint has brought their 4G coverage to Phoenix, AZ yet.

Hmmm. Maybe your phone is defective? I'm hesitant to recommend getting your phone replaced since Sprint may not let you cancel the contract (if you wish to do so within 14 days) once you replace it. BACKUP your phone and try "Reset Network Settings" under Settings->General->Reset.

Finally the truth surfaces. My EVO on Sprint is excellent. My other phones on AT&T were excellent when my AT&T iPhone wasn't. If the iP4 dropped a call all I needed was to pickup my AT&T Galaxy S, and enjoy clear calling.

The sad fact is Apple is far from perfect. A fact that most Apple worshipers deny completely.

Now, just to prove that I report honestly, I can say without hesitation that finally Apple has learned how to make a phone that works. I bought an AT&T 4S for my wife and it's the best phone of all.

Why? iFixit took one apart and discovered a new baseband processor along with the greatly improved antenna. This combo makes for the best phone from Apple to date. If they would have done this with the iPhone 4, there would never have been Antennagate.

I don't know about that. After selling my iPhone 4 and using a Blackberry for a month, I can honestly say the Blackberry holds on to calls and sends out texts better than my new iPhone 4S. My desk is positioned in an area where the iPhone constantly gets 1 bar of reception so it's the perfect place to test reception sensitivity.

Is the Blackberry using EDGE by any chance?:D

Why are some people here so upset when we say it may be a iphone problem? I'm not saying the phone sucks, I'm saying it has a problem. As soon as anybody has a sprint iphone people here immediately blame the coverage not the phone.

Go back a few months and everybody complained about AT&T. Now all of a sudden Sprint sucks. Why? What's changed? The Iphone....

I didn't see anything like this when the Evo came out on Sprint. It wasn't the poor coverage and battery issue all over the forums. The antenna is obviously having issues and the network is under stress. I'm sure it will get better.

OP have you tried this?:
Go to the Phone app
Type in ##873283#
Tap Call. A "Service Update" message will appear, tap OK
It will take about 30 seconds, then "Service Update Complete" will appear. Tap OK.
After about 10-30 seconds the 3G icon will disappear then you will switch to "No Service" as the radio resets.
When the bars and Sprint reappear, your update is done

I was really excited to get the iPhone 4S and finally abandon AT&T. Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Apple and have been there on day one to get every iPhone. This is more of me expressing my hatred for... whatever is causing these issues. First of all, I'll say that I switched to a new account on Sprint the day the 4S came out; first time being on Sprint. I've been desperately hoping that all the issues I've been having are because of Sprint's network getting slammed by new iPhone users.

First of all, Siri doesn't work 1/3 of the time, even with full bars and 3G. It just says it has trouble connecting to the network. Now, at home, I get 1mbps up/down, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

Secondly, at random times when going from place to place, literally like two feet, the "3G" switches to a "o" symbol when under heavy data load, or really just trying to load any data at all. Note: this happens even when I don't move at all and am trying to load data. It seems to happen more often when trying to use Siri.

Third, similar to the "o" symbol, at random times I'll get switched to the "Extended" network? The Sprint will change to Extended. Not sure why. This all seems to happen in most places I go to daily. Both the Extended switch and the "o" switch seem to have an impact on data speed, though I can't say for sure.

In some places, I won't get any service at all and I will have one bar with the "o" symbol. If I walk ten feet in another direction, I get full 3G restored. This doesn't happen as often as the other issues, but still has happened in the last few days.

The weird thing is, I know a couple of friends on Sprint and they've never complained about their coverage... which is why I have hopes that it's not related to Sprint and I didn't just lock myself into a network with poor coverage for two years. What do I do? Is it the iPhone? Is it Sprint?

Side issue, the phone heats up very frequently and battery discharge is just ridiculous compared to my iPhone 4. I had to purchase a Mophie battery pack to last through the day. I really don't understand why, the last time I experienced something like this was when I was running iOS 5 beta on my 4.

Please, someone help, I'm trying so hard to love this phone, and I really do, these issues just get in the way.

OP, I think your Siri issues are probably a combination of spotty coverage+Siri overloads. It's still a new thing, and 4 million (and counting) people aren't done asking Siri to open the pod bay doors.

If you can, try to find out if a friend with Sprint (but not an iPhone) is having the same network connection problems you are. You could in fact have a bum iPhone. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

However, you have a limited amount of time to figure out who is to blame. In the end, if it is Sprint, cancel the contract and go to one of the other carriers. There's no point in paying 30% less for wireless service you can't access.

Where in AZ are you? I'm in NW Phoenix near 67th Ave and Happy Valley and get great service with AT&T plus all around Phoenix I really haven't had any issues. Siri works 95% of the time for me I would say, maybe even better.

Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about the phone mostly, I was just hoping it was the phone so I didn't switch to Sprint only to find that it has terrible coverage.

I'll try that in a bit, thanks.

I'm near 91st and Lake Pleasant, so not too far from you.

I have been a loyal ATT costumer for years. NEVER had an issue with them. Yes, 3G is shoddy sometimes, But i use Wi-fi and only use 3G when needed. Costumer service treated me like i was a king. Thats what it is all about. Make us happy and we will keep coming back. The rare times i do contact service, They always end the call with, " Thank you for being a loyal ATT costumer".

this is a simple one to answer. Sprint uses a inferior 3g tech called CDMA rev a the iphone does not use wimax. Att network 3g is 10X faster and siri uses a fast connect. verizon uses the same tech but is a little faster.

A slow 3g network with increased users all using siri and more data equals problems. Sprint average download speeds are 700 kB per second whereas AT&T's download speeds are 10 times that amount.

I don't care how good their network coverage is there download speeds are pretty slow because their maximum speed if under the best conditions is still going to be slow.

Switch bach to ATT and your problem will be solved.

Okay, aside from this issue, I have the issue of receiving a lot of texts late (ranges from five minutes late to five hours late) and sometimes, when people call me, the phone never even acknowledges the call, and only a voicemail will show up. Thing is, these exact issues happened with my iPhone 4 on AT&T, and to a lesser extent, on my Samsung Focus. So, why would these exact problems happen across two networks and three phones?

due to a bad signal. and the network couldn't connect to the phone to give you the calls/texts.

Murphy's Law.

Honestly, across many phones and many years, texts have randomized chance of coming late and some calls just never quite make it due to signal issues.

OP -

1. I have Sprint, in my area it is great, but it seems for some reason in your area it is not.

2. If extended means roaming (which I assumed it did but did not confirm), then yes, its unlimited. Your plan should say unlimited roaming somewhere in the fine print. My Phone goes to roam in the east river tunnel of the long island rail road, but its nice being able to text and such while ATT/Tmobile users are holding their phones waiting for the train to exit the tunnel. Then you hear the mass rings of messages that couldn't come through on their networks.

I agree, they kind of sucked when the iPhone first landed on their network, but they have really fixed problems and I love their network now. I only pay 180/month for 2 iPhones (both with grandfathered unlimited data) and 2 dumbphones in a family plan. My speeds are awesome and so is my call quality.

Wow! Quoted for truth!! My iPhone 4 at my house had maybe MAYBE 1 bar if I was lucky. AT&T. My 4S gets 3-4 bars in my same house in the same room.

By the way, I had over 11 iPhone 4's, and everyone had 1 or 0 bars at my house.

Point is the iPhone 4 was a crappy phone. A crappy PHONE. Take out the phone, and its the best Apple device ever made.
