Rumor has it you will need to buy the 128GB to get a cellular version of the 9.7 inch Pro just like the big version of the Pro. This is ridiculous. I have no need for 128GB but I do have a need for cellular. This would force me to spend much more. But that's Apple's way....

It will similar/exact as to the iPad Air 2's storage and pricing W/LTE for all models. The iPad Pro is more of a Mac replacement tethered to an iPhone's LTE data plan.

That would suck. For a Wi-Fi only iPad, I need at least 32GB to be comfortable. With LTE and unlimited data, I can stream all of my music, TV shows, and movies, and I store all of my pictures and videos in Google Photos and regularly delete them off of my device, so I only need a 16GB device. It would suck to have to pay for the most expensive model just to get LTE.

Be prepared to be mad. They'll treat the 9.7 inch iPad Pro just like the larger iPad Pro. They could change strategy with their next release, but right now they are too committed. Actually, I think Apple is digging a bit of a hole for themselves.

It probably makes sense to try and get the large number of different configurations under control. There's far too many different models and options in the iPad line. I only really noticed when I walked into a store the other day and saw all the different iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro. What a mess of confusion.

It's not really a separate configuration though as in air1, air2, whatever. It's simply an option.

As I've made quite clear in other threads, this LTE thing they are doing is pissing me off. Really pissing me off. This probably keeps me out of the upgrade idea then. What a stupid, horrible idea. Guess I'll just be a statistical token of a person not upgrading. Tablet sales are slow, people aren't upgrading. Hmmmmm..... Did someone NOT get the memo? :(. Now way I'm getting sucked into a $900 dollar standard sized iPad. For goodness sakes you can buy a MacBook Air or a barely used MacBook Pro for close to that.

Then don't buy it. It's that simple.

Apple will price it whatever they want and it's up to us, the consumers, to decide whether it's worth it.

Not rocket science, people.

But don't dredge up that tired excuse that iPad sales are slow and they should lower the price because of that.

What's so funny about that? It's replaced Mac's and pc's for millions of users.

It replaced my year old 15" rMBP. I haven't found that my work flow has changed outside of the filing system. Using iClould more has become something I am having to get used to, other than that not much has changed for the worse. It just takes time to become acustom to a different work flow. For me a high pro laptop was nice but was never used for the things I thought I would start using it for, photos, videos etc... So, the iPP has replaced my Apple laptop

Who is your carrier? Use your iPhone as a mobile hotspot.

I'm in the same boat as the OP.
Was really hoping to go for a Pro 9.7" w/ LTE, but I simply have no need whatsoever for all that storage they are forcing on us.

It's simply a move to raise their ASP's (average selling price)

Remember - It's bean counter Tim's Apple now. Really blows.

LTE onboard makes me want *less* onboard storage, not the opposite.

The Pro did the same for me. I conducted a test when I bought the iPad Pro to see if I could do my work for at least 1 month. I turned off my Mac and put it away. I don't use graphic software (That's for my Surface Pro 4) or coding. I use MS Office & Apple iWork. iCloud defiantly helped especially iCloud Drive.

If they offer a 256GB model, my 13"er is going back.

If they offer a 256GB model, they would do the same for the iPad Pro 12.9".

That... would actually make me very annoyed as well, and probably every other owner of the 128GB Cellular iPad Pro 12.9".

Well, Thursday would be two weeks for me, so I'd just return it and pay the difference..

Where did I say lower the price? I did not. What I said and what I'm torked off about is the fact that they are requiring me to buy the top end model to get LTE support. They didn't used to do that. And, slow sales are a fact of the tablet market. Nothing being dredged up here, bro.

Well, Apple has done it with the Pro and there will be little surprise if the 9.7" follows suit.

Was 256 available in the type of storage they use when the 12.9 came out?
