You are right, no one NEEDS to upgrade.. The only things one truly NEEDS are water, food and sleep.

But some of us love latest & greatest technology.. fastest processors, best screen resolution, fastest wireless technologies, latest mobile features. That's what makes us happy and satisfied.

Similar reasons why some people choose to drive the latest Audi S5, while 4-year Toyota Camry would have done the trick getting them from A to B.

If you are happy with your 3-year old iPhone 3G (or whatever) - great, no one forcing you to upgrade to (or even care about) the yet-to-be-released iPhone5. Better question to ask yourself is why do you feel the need to come here and convince everyone in their errant ways?

Exactly. I personally can suffice with somewhat old technology, but after a certain point I just need to update. Usually every 1-2 years I update phones. Just depends on so many different variables.

I could care less about the 4S/5
you could?
I could care less, but where's the fun in that?
lulz

What exactly did 9to5mac say that made it seem reasonable? I can't seem to find any post on such a topic.

Yep, I could care less as well. I guess if I COULDN'T care less, I wouldn't be here on this forum. ;)

It is a portable phone... It makes phone calls, text, and gets info online! iphone 2g thru iphone 5 or what ever you call it they all do they same basic functions! Why would you upgrade when they all do the same basic functions?

If you don't like it, I'll just quote you from one of your previous posts:

Then don't buy it!!! Apple is not going to miss your money!!!! Somebody else will love the fact that they will get the iphone that you could have made them wait on when they sell out!!! It is not about last years tech!!! It is about user experince and that is what keeps people coming back to buy a iphone!!!

That same User "Experience"(spell-checked that for you :D) is exactly why people get every iteration of iPhone.

Surely you might be able to understand that.

9to5 worked backwards from what they think the release date will be(10/7). They used examples of past iPhone releases, and apples consistency in product releases(obviously this one is a bit dif with the delay of release and all) They made it sound better than I could, but I haven't been able to find the story again. It's all conjecture obviously, but fun to discuss.

Cult of Mac posted the same theories also, weird. The problem is that they omitted why they decided on those dates, whereas my theories explain why.

Problem is that all these theories are based on Oct-7 release date.. which is not a lot more than a rumor.

You people need to calm down. It's a phone for Christ's sake. Don't you have other things to focus on while you wait for your precious iPhone?

Ummm... if you care so little why are you here in the first place? This board is dedicated to iPhone discussion.

And THIS is what I'm saying on the Android and Nokia threads!

Fair enough, but comparison to the competition is good. If there are threads solely to discuss Android/Nokia/WP7 then they should be closed (report them to mods with a reason) but if it's a thread discussing the difference between the iPhone 4 and the Galaxy S 2 (and not just focused on the GS2) then I see no problem with it.

EDIT: The reason there is comparison with these devices is that there are no other iOS phones to compare it too. With Android/WP7, you can compare a flagship phone to other brands, but not so in the case of Apple. People like comparisons to give measurements some perspective.

Agreed. Comparison is fine. But the recent one that says something about the iPhone 4 design in the subject but then shows the Nokia in the body...that was too much.

(I'm a bit annoyed tonight :p)

The posters in the thread did make it iPhone-relevant though.

Because of all the cool new non-basic functions.
