Yup same here. O2 store had 5 16gb units and 12 8gb. the CPW only had 1 16gb!!!!

What really pisses me off is that existing iphone customers on o2 who want to upgrade can only do so though and o2 store or online o2. We cant even go to an Apple store. Seems like if you're a new customer you're fine, but if they already have you by the short and curlys, you're high and dry.

Okay so i took a chance and went to the shopping centre....

Still no luck!

Queue for O2 was 30 people long so didnt even bother....
...CPW was empty.

I wet in asked when did they open? "Right now" was their response!
Why no customers? They are not doing upgrades!!!!!

I was under the impression that CPW were doing upgrades!!!! I bought my original one from the same f***ing store!!!! The guy told me they hadn't been informed by O2 how to upgrade existing customers!!!!!!!

They even had stock which just rubs it in more!!!!!

O2 are a F***ing JOKE!!!!!! They need to sort themselves out and explain exactly what needs to be done to upgrade!!!!!!!!

Im also at work with no iphone 3G:(

was queing for about 40 mins before i had to leave to get to work, the que was about 30 deep and they were taking about 30mins each person, with about 3-5 staff in the shop, so i could have been waiting a while!

ill be checking in with o2 over the next week to see if they are getting some more in - gutted

I am GUTTED, i was in two minds about getting it last night after the 2.0 update but after holding a demo this morning Im hooked, much better to hold the black doesnt really smudge that much and it feels very robust.

I'm empty handed from my local CPW.

Waiting outside for an hour and was 2nd in the queue. Only to find that when I got in the 3 16GB they had in stock had all been "reserved".

why are people shocked by the low stock? theres been many reports on the web about the UK will have limited amount of stock upon release date

Thats is a joke!!!

I thought it was clearly stated that it was first come first served!!!

This is an absolute joke!

Who has the email addresses of Matthew Key and the whoever runs CPW, they are getting a strongly worded email about lack of communication!!!

im not shocked at the lack of stock, i queued early for that very reason but between 1 and 5 16gb per shop is disgraceful!

That and the whole upgrade fiasco continuing today!

Wow I must have been lucky. Got to Trafford Centre about 7am.. about 15 people queueing by that time. My 8am there were about 50.

Looked like there were plenty of 8gb/16gb about.. one member of staff said 'more than 50' but wouldn't be drawn on how many.

The advantage of being near a city centre I guess.

Also O2's network crashed about 5 minutes after they opened and they had to resort to paper!

Due to the credit checks and paperwork I reckon the queue won't be done until lunchtime - I hope those at the back had the day off...

Every store i have been to is closer to Edinburgh's city centre than the Trafford centre is to Manchester's..... before you ask i have been there!

I was 10th in line at weston, they sold out of 16gb by the time they got to me, they had 27 8gb's left.
Right up till I got told they'd sold out they were saying they had "plenty".
If they'd said how many they had in stock from the start I could have just gone home, but the manager kept on reassuring people and saying that people might not have the documentaton with them/fail credit checks so they should be able to do the whole queue. Of about 50 people.

I don't think that mobile phone manufacturers or stockists work in this big launch kind of way. They need to keep the production line rolling, not do a huge order and then sell out. They work in day in day out manufacture and sales. Completely different to software I guess where the manufacturing costs are much lower. And the hardware that Apple has sold up to now is of the price where most people don't buy on the day of release. But now they are in a new arena of disposable consumerism. The iPod was an introduction to this kind of market but phones are almost something else altogether.

I ordered my 16GB online with CPW, getting delivered to a local store today. Called yesterday and they assured me it would be there. Going to pop down later but it can't bring myself to believe I'll actually get one.

The Telford O2 Store had 50 in. 13 of them were 16GB ones, however, it looked like they received a delivery while I was in store.

That's what pisses me off. When I arrived at 7.15am I asked about their stock and they said they had "plenty enough for everyone in the queue" I asked about stock of 16GBs to be told "we have plenty of both types". So I waited for two-and-a-half hours. Luckily I was then served inside by the same girl who'd spoken to me in the queue so when she said they were out of 16GB I got to ask her her definition of "plenty of both types"...

...at which point she got arsey with me! I thought I might leave the store emtpy-handed but I didn't expect to get abuse forcing me to walk out!

Least the manager came out and told everyone. Thats the decent thing to do rather than wait till you all get inside.

I waited for over an hour as people were being served only to be told they were sold out.

They didn't even announce numbers at any point.

Great job 02 Plymouth!

phone up and thank O2.

I'm sorry but is a phone worth all this grief. i grea that O2 have fecked everyone royally. Especially the original Iphone customers lookign to upgrade. i can understand how gutted you must feel. But sit down take a deep breath remember its only a phone and think what you can do with your 160 quid instead.

Dominoes Pizza are having a special 9.99 pizza deal, so that 16 pizzas. You'll soon forget about the iphone when your sitting in the hospital getting your stomach pumped after trying to eat all 16 large BBq pixxas. See now you feel better.

O2 can go feck themselves;)

O2 in Walsall is out of 16GB phones, seem to be a fair amount of 8GB's left though.

That is bloody dreadful. I was going to head down to that store this morning too but I had a sleepy daydream about 6am about owning a white iPhone, and after looking at the unboxing photos of them in another thread I'm glad I stayed in bed !

Once again, UK are screwed over by O2, not Apple. I blame O2's complete lack of competence in handling the pre-ordering, management information gathering and stock ordering from Apple.

Why so limited numbers ? Why no White 16Gb option ?

Pathetic

Couldn't agree more! I pre-ordered on Monday at 0810 and got let down by O2 yesterday! Luckily I risked my local town centre at 0545 this morning and grabbed a 16gb at CPW (who opened at 0702)!! Despite my joy, I will be writing a complaint to O2 over the whole affair - the words "p*ss", "up" and "brewery" spring to mind!
