QFT. There is also one in Calabassas, great stuff.
I also enjoy a burger and pie at Apple Pan down on Pico, good stuff.
+1 on Apple Pan. I live around 10 minutes from there.
The Counter is still my favorite for burgers.

Hey, at least they didn't run over your dog.

Just seeing this post has made me start salivating. I could really go for a Steak Burger, fries, a cream soda, and a piece of apple pie a la mode. Man, I love ApplePan.
Haven't been to The Counter, I'll have to give that a shot next time I'm in the area.
Surely, if you haven't been to the LA County Museum of Art, I totally recomend it. IT's right down the street from you, on Wilshire. I LOVE LACMA! I used to work there and still visit often. The Getty Center and Villa are nice too.
It's a chain, so there might be one near you. Google it...
Indeed! I'll have to give it a try sooner rather than latter.
And I second the Getty Villa and Getty Center. Really cool and really cheap.
I've been offered a dream job over there, and I just got back from a house hunting trip which was my third LA visit in just over a year and I've signed a lease on a tiny 3 bed place in Pasadena ( 91104 )
I have more friends over there than over here anyway. And I learnt something funny but true there in January. EVERYTHING is in LA. Whatever you want to do, see, get.. it's ALL there. But ALL of it, is exactly 45 minutes from EVERYTHING else.

Thanks! It's on the list.....so many places to still go. That's why I like living here... There's always something to do or somewhere to go.
If you are into museums, there is one in Pasadena, near Old Town, called Norton Simon museum. It is a small one, but quite a few paintings from very famous artists. I did not know that Picasso sculpted until I went there. They have a nice garden as well. You can hang out at Old Town at night after leaving the museum.
There is more art than you can see in just one day.
Also, you may enjoy LACMA's Friday Night Jazz. It's a free weekly outdoor event. Drinks are served too. Hot chicks all over. Damn fun. ((check their schedule cause it's not year round, but it's on now))
And I love it. I utterly love it.
Congrats! Pasadena is nice, good choice! Should be a decent place to live; lots of stuff to do in Pasadena itself, plus its nice and close to the actual city.
And for those that bemoan LAX.... it's a dream to visit compared to LHR. Seriously. And where else does your United 777 get to race Air-France 777's on approach with Downtown and the Hollywood sign as a backdrop.![]()
Yeah, I don't know. I don't think LAX is that bad, never really understood the grumbling about it. Its somewhat busy, but there are definitely worse airports out there.
Jazz: check
Drinks: check
Hot chicks: check
The perfect Friday evening? I think so.
I'll just have to leave the 'hot chicks' part out when I tell my wife about it.![]()
Yes, this sounds like something I'll have to check out at some point in the near future.![]()
I think you're absolutely crazy! I find LA to be disgusting and an utter pain in the ass. Its impossible to get around, you essentially have to use a car, and everything takes 45 minutes to get to because traffic is always so bad. But, there is definitely a lot to do, that is a major plus. But then again, after spending my whole life in the LA area, I'm about ready try something else.

I really like LA. I don't find it "disgusting and an utter pain in the ass". It must be because you've lived here your whole life.

The traffic is dreadful - but - as long as you're not right in downtown, decamping to surface streets works a treat. My newly acquired TomTom did an awesome job of skipping me around the worst traffic whilst house hunting.
In those last shots, is that the aurora borealis from your plane? (If so) how cool!
Yup - the timing of my return flight was specifically so it was overnight in NE Canada and Greenland, and I booked a seat on the left ('north') side of the plane. Then crossed my fingers. When there was a 6/10 forecast before I took off I was fairly confident. Next time - I'm taking my DSLR.
