I know there are plenty that have cases for shatter resistance but anecdotally at least, there are just as many who use such flimsy cases I'd imagine scratches are more of a priority for them. As it goes, in all my decades of having a phone I've only dropped one once or twice so shatter resistance is not a priority for me either. Just not personally a case person, the same way many are case people.
I agree, the only reason I use a case is for the scratch resistance. I’m unconsciously careful with my iphone and letting it fall is extremely rare.

The last phone I was able to use nekkid was the iPhone 5. After that, the 6+ really felt like it needed a case. I thought that the 12 Pro Max would result in being able to use the phone case-less but it was still too slippery and heavy to use without a case. :(

Preventing scratches on my phone don’t really bother me as I use an iCarez matte screen protector - as long as the scratch isn’t in the screen I could care less. Lol

I use the Apple Card Holder as my “case” to prevent scratches to my camera. Works really well for those of you going caseless.

There is no such thing as a flimsy case. Can some cases protect better than others? Sure.

No one is 'case people'. That's like saying I wear a seat belt in car because I am a 'belt person'. Oh brother. We get it, you don't want a case. Your friends don't care either way. Guess what? We 'case people' don't care either. lol. But please don't assume those that use cases are doing so because of their love for cases. I don't like cases, but I use it for the utility (ahem) it provides. And that utility is not scratch protection for me, but for shatter protection because both the back and front of the phone is made of glass.

I was originally planning on going naked when I was first thinking about purchasing my launch day silver 13 Pro Max. I decided not to brave it because the silver scratches easily and is a finger print magnet. I guess the OCD in me wanted to try and keep the phone from getting damaged. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. I ended up getting a clear case for the my 13 Pro Max and am I glad I did that because I have dropped my phone 11 times since getting it. The drops all have been from the about 3 feet or less. I have been fumble fingers, but ***** happens and we all have to deal with it the way we see fit. My case is just a cheap clear case, paid $12 for it. It is a pretty minimal case. It has done its job beautifully and it has prevented the phone from being physically damaged. Thankfully, the drops have not been that high off the ground. I still get to enjoy the beauty of my 13 Pro Max and not worry so much if I drop it. I try to be very careful but things happen and they certainly have happened to me. I have also been surprised that the case has not yellowed yet after 4 months, still nice and clear. It also seems to be scratch resistant which is also nice. The best $12 I could have spent.

What clear case do you have?

I have been using my iPhone 13 Pro Max without a case for the past few weeks. However, I have an ArmorSuit skin on it. I'll eventually apply a dbrand skin, but as of right now, it's just the ArmorSuit skin on the sides and back. The biggest change with not using a case is that I find myself placing my phone down more gently than before. I don't think I can ever go back to using a case. In my opinion, no other device feels better than a cold iPhone. With that being said, I'm worried about the summer because I wear basketball shorts the majority of the time, and the phone is very slippery without a case. I'm considering purchasing a sleeve or a pouch.
On a side note: I've mentioned this in another thread, but I think my power button is faulty because it's practically flush with the side. The benefit of most cases is having a raised button so it's easier to find and press.

It appears to have dropped in price.

I love cases like that, where it almost feel like you’re not using one. I’m currently using a silicon bumper from AliExpress, with a glass screen protector and glass back protector.
