Could Apple even put a dual core chip in the current design? If they don't, there won't be a huge boost in performance anyway.

Wait. Hold on.

You purchased an iPod 2 months ago and you're concerned that Apple's annual update will improve the product in September, 6 months from now, 8 months after you made the purchase?

What's wrong with you?

Didn't you read my original post?

Apple is already rolling out iPad 2's with a5 processors. In case you don't know, iPod 4th Gens have a4 processors.

Anyways, I really don't care about the processor. I really do not care about speed.

Then what is the point of your original post? Tech gets outdated fairly quickly, it shouldn't be a big surprise. But when new iPods are released in September, yours will still work.

+1. OP bitches about something then come back with "I really don't care".

The point was made here.

ebay is not a retailer. ebay is a virtual garage sale/auction site. On ebay, you have to sell it yourself.

For the Buy Back, yes you're charged for it, but you're paying for a certain % back should you choose to use it. And it's hassle-free and won't take weeks, months or years like ebay.

And depending on your buyer on ebay, you could end up getting screwed out of payment. They could back out at the last minute.

Only one thing though: I don't think you need something more powerful than the A4 CPU/GPU on the iPod touch, since it doesn't have the tremendous computing requirements that a device like the iPad requires.

I know, when the 5th gen iPod touch comes out, ill be a little dissapointed that it has an a5 chip, etc.
ill either sell my current one before then, OR wait until my device is outdated. as long as i get full iOS 5 support despite the OS being made for dual core processors, ill be fine... i think.
quickly apple will rid of the dual core and switch to quad core... just watch.

Apple won't necessarly put an A5 or any dual-core in Ipod Touch:

- it's a portable multimedia player that doesn't need so much power (we will never play 9 videos simultaneously on an ipod touch)

- they managed to keep iPad 2 autonomy because it's much bigger than ipod touch. It won't be easy to keep the ipod touch so thin and autonomous with a dual-core.

I count seven. September, October, November, December, January, February, March.

From and including: Wednesday, September 8, 2010
To, but not including : Sunday, March 6, 2011

It is 179 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date

Or 5 months, 26 days excluding the end date.

...so there. You were both wrong.

How does this happen to me?!

My iPod... the a4 processor.

Now they're rolling out iPads with A5 processors!!

This September they'll have iPods with A5 processors too!

Noooooohhhh!

I'm still sticking to the vow of running this one till it can't even walk.

Welcome to the world of Apple. You wanted something special, now look at your credit card statement to find out how special it really was.

You can never keep up with Apple, when you got iPod Touch 5 Gern, you will want to get 6

I did read and understand your post. You failed to understand mine.

Yes, iPads are being released with A5 processors on March 11. iPods are not.

iPods have A4 processors and that will likely be current iPod hardware for at least the next 6 months.

So again, why is this an issue for you? You have a current iPod that will continue to remain current throughout the next half of its product cycle.

Why are you now saying that speed is not an issue for you? You started a thread about it.

Chances are the iPod 5th Gen will upgrade to an A5 chip. The iPod touch mimics the iPhone, such as A4, cameras and retinal display. The iPhone will have to switch to the A5 to keep up and unlike what has been mentioned. This doesn't have to change the form factor. The Galaxy S2 has a dual core and will be the thinnest smart phone on the market when it launches this month.

Also it would be more cost effective to produce a single chip for all three rather than two separate chips.

As for the OP, when it comes to tech it's outdated before you ever buy it. Behind closed doors there's many prototypes that would knock the socks off the fancy new piece of kit that's just released.

Well my mistake then. 6 months.

Yes, I have.

But I haven't read the complete ripoff part.

Can you point it out to me?

The ripoff is that you have to purchase it, it doesn't automatically come with your item. How much it costs depends on the sale price of the item you are getting. Lastly, you can only get a maximum of 50% of the cost of the item. See attached pictures taken from Best Buy website.

This is one of the disadvantage of buying an Apple product. Their release cycle is too quick which makes customers think twice before buying an Apple product.
