Got my maxed out Macbook Pro 17" Hi res glossy today and I've been playing with it for about 3 hours now. This things is absolutely superb, especially being my first Mac. The glossy screen isn't too bad in terms of reflection at all. This thing is 50x faster than my 5 year old Dell laptop. It's finally nice to open multiple applications without having a heart attack. Now I just have to learn my way around a Mac, which is quite an enjoyable experience.

I just picked up my 1st Mac today.
I just love that huge 17" glossy screen on the MBP:D

I gave it a thourough inspection to make sure everything is perfect (or at least close to). I checked for the usual suspects and so far everything is up to par. The lid closes flush... (no gaps). No yellowing on the screen. Played a DVD movie with no problems. Sleeps and wakes up on queue. Speakers are nice and loud with no crackling...as expected.
I have no beef with the caps lock slight delay. From what I've read here, it's set up that way by design. So I'm cool with it.

I like the multi touch gestures. I always despised the Macbooks for the simple fact that they only had a one click button. This is a non issue now (at least for me) with this multi touch pad. Can you say 2 finger "right click"? Yeah baby, Yeah!!!!!:D

Needless to say I'm too tired tonight to mess around anymore with my new MBP.
It's time for me to hit the sack. I will be performing surgery on this bad boy tomorrow by installing a WD Passport 320GB HD and 4GB SDRAM. SWEEEEET:cool:

Summer2000

I just switched and for the first time (since my apple IIe) I have a Mac. I couldn't be more happy with my MBP, especially since I put 4 gigs of ram in it! well maybe if it had a iTap attachment to dispense my beer...

I've had my new MBP for one week now.
I upgraded from a 1.4Ghz G4 Imac with 10.3 OSX.
Its like night and day!
I can't find fault with either the operating system or the hardware.

I bought a 2.5 15" the second day they came out and it had a yellow bottom 1/3rd and i returned it and the replacement had that speaker annoying "buzzing" noise so i returned it. I decided to BTO a new MBP 15" 2.6GHz 7200HDD and i just got it, it also has a very slight "white-yellow" to it except it doesnt go all the way across the bottom 1/3rd. It only affects the left half of the bottom 1/3rd if that makes sense. Im tired of dealing with the issue and it really doesnt bother me all that much and it doesnt have that annoying buzzing noise anymore so id rather have this. Also my DVD drive is much quieter while inserting DVD's and overall after i calibrated the display its much less noticeable so im pretty happy. I really just wish they could have fixed this "white-yellow."

From incompetence To elegance

I have been a PC user for my entire computing life..hehe(whatever). I have felt the pain of viruses, the notorious BSOD(blue screen of death), and unstable compilation of garbage that is the Windows Operating system. No more, will I suffer the agony of lost information, daily crashes, and incompatibilities of such a beast written by the incompetent adolescent coders.

I have stepped into the world of the elegant and beautifully engineered premium products of Apple.

Simply put, :apple:I LOVE MY MAC!:apple:

I don't even own a Mac, but I'm already having a love affair with the 15" MacBook Pro. I hope when the Macs get refreshed the price will go down. I've already picked out the case and software I want. Hopefully, I'll meet my money goal close to when the Macs get a refresher. :D !!!! I'm so excited. I was doing some trig today and really enjoying it, then the beauty of the MBP entered my mind. I had to stop and get on Apple.com and read some more tutorials about OS X. Ahhhh so sexy.

You'll be waiting at least 6 moths, dude. Get it now, for I doubt that the price will go down the next update (it was just cut by 40%).

Haha I feel you, I've been stalking macrumors, configuring my "dream" system on apple's site, watching videos of the best apps, and searching for cases/bags since April. After waiting for about 4 months to be able to afford one, I finally got my 13" today. All that anticipation has finally come to a head and my Mac is finally in my hands. I hope you are able to afford one soon, you won't be let down :)

It's my first Mac ..I'm so happy and it's working fine...
I like it..and no more Windows!!

I just bought my first Mac ever, getting use to the OS basics only took a few hours but now to learn the ins and outs like I know on Windows. I love both my Windows computer and my Mac laptop. Also this is by FAR the best built laptop I've had yet. Love it

I have the basic 13". Plan on getting 4GB of RAM and a SSD soon enough, the difference in clock speed on the processor of the higher end wasn't worth it.

I was also looking at the MB Air, friend has one, but it just wasn't for me. Was also looking at the 15" with the dedicated card because I do like to game but in the end I have my desktop which I built for that. Since this laptop is 80% for school I got the 13" and the occasional gaming session while not at my desktop and messing around in things like photoshop.

I absolutely love this laptop and the OS is really nice too. The only annoyance is there is a piece of dust under the screen, called Apple they said take it to the store and they're remove the screen and clean it out. I'd rather just leave it than get more dust/fingerprints there. Anyways its already moved hopefully soon it will move out of sight!

Congrats!!!

I too am an IT tech and I love not having to fuss with windows after a long day of fussing with windows.

All my coworkers get enraged (literally) if I happen to say something nice about my mac so it stays all quiet in the office and I can't show it off : /

I bought a Macbook Pro 13", my very first Apple computer and I have to say I am very pleased with it, the build quality is supberb with no flex anywhere on the chasis. The glossy screen brings out the colour and vibrancy of pictures and videos, but as others have noted it really suffers outdoors :(

With regards to Mac OS, I'm still struggling to shake off 15 years of Windows habits (e.g double click title bar to maximise) but I think I can see myself liking it.

I'm going on 3 weeks now with my new 15" MBP and I absolutely love it. I am a graphic designer and have always worked on Macs... but this is my first Macbook Pro. I ended up getting the previous version (early 2009) since I wanted to keep the cost below $1600 and with that model I could get the extra graphics card as well as the Express slot. Got a good deal at the Apple store since they were trying to clear their stock. Machine has worked flawlessly so far and I, for one, love the glossy screen.

Did I read somewhere where you can upgrade these machines to 6GB of RAM even though they are only supposed to handle 4?

Yes, I am most pleased with my Mac purchase. For the last 6 months it's performed with nary a hitch. I love it's glossy screen, black keys, optical drive, portly weight, space heater temps, and razor sharp edges. It's been great little laptop and a fun learning experience. I foresee a very long working relationship with it.

I feel that. I am the IT boss-geek, so I can use whatever I choose. I choose to use my new 15" MBP for everything. Along the way, I have spawned no little computer envy, and sold several people on getting a Mac.

It's fun, ain't it?
