Let me tell you something. If you Do Not update to iOS 7:

- You will not be able to use any game controllers that are going to be released in coming months that use the new game controller API's that were added in iOS 7. (You don't play games? Ok, fair enough)

- You will not be able to take advantage of the new Omnibar or tabs interface in Safari. (what's that you say? you use Chrome? great...I guess you like slower browsers that can't use the nitro engine).

- You will not be able to take advantage of iTunes radio.

- You will not be able to take advantage of the edge swiping gesture to go "back" and "forward" in apps that become updated for iOS 7.

- You will not be able to take advantage of the new camera app features such as the popular filters and swiping between the different camera interfaces.

- You will not able to take advantage of the background refresh which will learn what apps you use and when so it is always updated when you open it.

- You will not able to take advantage of the newer more polished Siri

Now, tell me again how you are willing to lose all the functionality/features above because you don't like the colors and icons??

This is getting ridiculous.

"I don't want the new <insert car make and model>. It has blind spot mirror warning...I like to manually check my blind spot myself"

Don't care.

Don't care.

Don't care.

Don't care.

Don't care.

Don't care.

Don't care.

Remind me why I should care? Neither of my devices (iPhone 4S, iPad 2) support iOS 7 fully and look like absolute **** beyond the icons due to a complete and utter lack of blurred transparency (which is the primary selling point of iOS 7).

You're drinking too much kool aid if you think this stuff matters as much as you do.

7 is not a clear cut homerun.

Then again, OS X wasn't all that either upon release. It was very, very slow. .1 and .2 weren't much better, and it was only upon the release of .3 that I felt fully confident using X.

Based on initial reports, 7 is a far more polished product than X.0 was upon it's release. It seems clear that the 'problems' with 7 right now can be fixed rather easily (non-updated, slightly slow keyboards; ipad optimization).

Or at least that's my hope. The griping will probably lead me to wait a day or two after it's release before I download. Then again, they may not.

Why upgrade to iOS 7? Because of you ever take your phone to the Genius Bar they'll update it for you anyway. Standard procedure before assessing any device that comes in: it must have the most up-to-date version (you of course don't have to be running mountain lion in the case of a Mac, but it has to be the latest version of whatever operating system).

Personally I don't really care either way. But I do occasionally take advantage of AppleCare, and I want to be able to upgrade on my terms, not theirs.

Good thread btw and glad I am not the only person fed up with the negativity.

For those who are refusing to upgrade, fair enough, but I would seriously consider making a switch to another OS very soon. If you don't like the way iOS has gone now, you will never. There is no point staying behind the latest update for any length of time IMO as it just limits the user. It can't cater for everyone and if you have sadly fallen out of love, I guess its goodbye. ;)

This forum doesn't need to become an Apple temple, there's nothing wrong with some criticism, as repetitive/redundant as it might seem.

Apple Temple !!! Which forum are you following, I wonder….

Macrumour is anything but an Apple Temple - check out the amounts of repetitive/redundant iOS 7 bashing threads running amok…… It feels like more of 'Hell on Fire'…..

One positive thread posted, should be encouraged (or ignored if you so wish) and not turned into an onslaught, either on iOS7 or the OP….

As much as people are allowed to post threads which are 'negative repetitive/redundant', so is the OP for stating something positive he perceives….

So my dear Sir, breathe deeply, have a sip of 'Amber Nectar' - and see all your anger and annoyance melt away….. Cheers !!!!

Oh look a pretty chart! And it's got the retro Apple colours in it! You've totally convinced me that I need to upgrade to iOS 7.0 as soon as possible! Thank you my saviour, for delivering me into the light!

PS: I've never seen a more confusing chart then that. Maybe you should actually try next time rather then throwing random graphics at people.

The last build of iOS 7 I played with worked like hot garbage on my 4S. I won't be upgrading until there are some field reports that confirm it doesn't lag on the older phones.

Sir it seems that you would also be more then happy with an old Nokia, a typewriter, an old Dell PC, a tuner radio with an old Cadillac....

Welcome to iOS 7, whenever you are ready....

I could never do with a PC, but the rest you're probably right about. I'm definitely not an iPhone power user. But when you work in web design, you have to keep up with tech, unfortunately.

(I'll be secretly happy when the Happening occurs and we're all living in the woods.)

Threads like this provide a good counterpoint to those who'll buy anything Apple puts in front of them. Free thinking is clearly in danger when amongst a group of followers. Especially when they get a pass for acting out, name calling & personal attacks. They're vitriol exists in such volume, the mods can't begin to keep up with it.

The good news is free thinkers can spot that game miles away and are far less affected than the attackers believe. Preferring a good conversation or debate, it's the insecure one way thinkers that turn it into an ugly fight. A situation that doesn't need to exist. If the some of the Pro-Apple Only people would keep it on topic instead of name calling, the outcome of a good discussion would be both educational & interesting

Interesting info graphic. Thanks for posting.

ScottishCaptain no care about shiny thingies. Shiny thingies no matter to him. Practical thingies do. No practical thingies in iOS 7.

I don't understand why any of you care about the people not upgrading. It's amazing, really. It's like it has become your mission in life to convince us that we want to upgrade, even though we don't need to. Why are you trying to do Apple's job for them?

Linus Torvalds co-wrote a book, and in it he said something to the effect that Steve Jobs literally could not comprehend how there could be hoards of users out there not concerned with increasing Apple's profits.

This is almost the same thing. It's like none of you can comprehend how there would be hoards of users who simply don't care, and are actually quite content with the way their devices work now.

So really, I'm tired of the people who think that change is necessarily in order to be productive with their hardware. I am sick to death of hearing about how Apple isn't innovating anymore when I don't give a flying crap about innovation. I want a device that works, and works properly. I want every feature to work flawlessly the way it was designed to in theory. I don't want new features and new crap before the old crap has been perfected. People who think their device is useless because it hasn't changed in the past two years are precisely the reason why our software sucks so much and iOS 7 is in the mess that it is in right now.

If Apple's entire user base was comprised of users like you we'd still be on iOS 2.x because no one would be asking for copy/paste, MMS support, wallpapers, notification centers. These were all new features Apple added to iOS over the years to compete with other phones and demands of their customers.

iOS 7 is no exception. Apple has been losing some of its users to other competitors because iOS has become boring and stale and hasn't changed much over the years.

Give it a few patches and iOS 7 will be just fine. :)

Really?

Because I was all for copy and paste. That's a basic feature computers have had since the beginning, and for a phone that advanced not to have it is kinda inexcusable.

However, I didn't ask for a new UI. I didn't ask for more animations. I didn't ask for "parallax" backgrounds. What do these do to improve the end user experience? Nothing. It's superfluous crap that does absolutely nothing to improve the way you use your phone. That is all I'm against, because that's what happens when people ask for change and there is nothing left to change.

iOS 5 was the epitome of iOS design. Sleek, clean, refined. Somewhere along the line they lost their way with that skeuomorphism crap that got totally out of hand, and then their solution was to throw away everything and start again rather then just fixing the problem and improving on all the good bits that were still there.

So, like a lot of other users on this forum- you seem to believe that in order for things to improve, everything must change. Thank you for proving the point of my last post.

New features is good, I have no quarrels with new features. However, "iOS has become boring and stale"? I don't mind if my phone is boring, as long as it works. A lot of changes in iOS 7 are focused on looks, rather than functionality. For instance, the old font was perfectly legible. As far as I know, the only reason it was changed was because some people thought it was "boring and stale." Now the new font may be "stylish and fresh," but I have trouble reading it. That kind of change, I can do without.

On, and in the rush to change the look of things, a lot of functions went missing. Just look at all the threads complaining about missing functions in Calendar and Music. So now we are back to complaining about missing basic functions and waiting for them to be added back. Talk about stepping backwards... :(
