Wow - pure fanboyism. What do you care how much profit Apple makes? Do you work for them?

We both have an opinion. From my side, I was a reseller of Acer, HP, IBM, Compaq, Dell and the support, exchange, and service they gave compared to Apple was pathetic for the hundreds of units we sold.

I'm starting to dislike ever MacRumors member I come across...

Sorry but I'm going to have stick my ore in here. I used to work for apple, was a specialist in one of the retails stores for just under two years. I haven't worked there for about a year and a half now but first off let me say I'm by no means an apple fanboy or anything like that, I hated my job by the time I finished, couldn't wait to start uni and get the hell outta there. But some of the people posting in this thread are just ridiculous.

Every now and then I would come across a macrumors member in the store, would usually spot them a mile off, and they were usually without fail be just complete and utter socially inept idiots. They'd be the person who would come up to you and ask you the most ridiculous questions, usually about something they'd read online, or just ask you inane technical questions to test your knowledge, I often got the impression they knew the answer themselves, they only asked to sneer when you didn't know. Then proceed to post it on macrumors in threads such as this.

Or I'd see them at the bar whining to a genius about a minute problem with a mac/ipod/iphone and then proceed to tell the genius that the forums said it was a common problem and a defective batch. It was more often than not just something ridiculous that the average user wouldn't even notice because it wasn't really a problem, the pedantic geeks and forums were the problem, ie 'o one of my keys is slightly slanted by half a mil, the click on my trackpad makes a strange noise, my cpu temp is too hot but yet its never actually overheated, the forums say my mac should boot up 34.1 seconds but it actually takes 40 etc etc'.

That's not to say some of the staff weren't muppets because some of them were, proper numptys some of them but at the end of the day its retail, don't expect the staff to be experts on everything or know the ins and outs of x serve and what chipsets the computers were running because at the end of the day nobody except the smallest minority cared, and they often knew themselves it just seemed they got some sort of pathetic self satisfaction from feeling superior to the staff.

More often than not after dealing with one of these people I'd wander into the staff room and mutter something along the lines of them being a massive ****. And what was it with some of you visiting the store so often for no reason, I'd often see some people surfing macrumors before coming up to me/someone else pestering about an upcoming product or complaining to us and questioning why we didn't have x feature or piece of software.

Obviously I did also come across an MR member every now and then who was a sound guy, they just liked macs, fair does to them.

The following Quotes exemplify some of these idiots:

I'm pretty sure any macrumors poster is 10x smarter/knowledgeable than any worker there and having fairly good computer knowledge, it bugs me to have to talk to an Apple store worker who clearly isn't a a computer expert

So you are saying I should accept **** attitude from low-IQ dimwitted employees just because there is worse out there?

Heh, that has happened to me many many times.

The funny thing is, I've been dealing with computers since the early 90's. I can run circles around any "genius" or repair guy.

I usually act dumb at the stores because you don't want to reveal too much. You just want the thing to get fixed.

I always leave going to the "Genius" bar as a last resort. I dislike Apple stores.

It's a only retail store and that's all it'll ever be.

Sorry if I've sounded harsh in this post but there's two sides to everything.

It's good to hear from a former employee (even though you called me an idiot :p). You quoted me but took out half of what i said:
"it bugs me to have to talk to an Apple store worker who clearly isn't a a computer expert but talk down to me like he/she is a genius (pun intended)."
I realize it's a stressful job since there are so many customers and it can become more of an internet cafe than a store at times. But, as mentioned by other posters as well, there has been a shift in attitude towards the customers by the staff lately. I used to enjoy the interactions between the apple store staff but now, unless you're a complete newbie and are planning to buy your first new mac machine, you're dismissed in a rude smarta$$ fashion (again, not saying EVERYONE is like this but enough are to make it an issue). I'm not expecting to talk to a Mac guru whenever I talk to an employee, but I'm also not expecting them to talk down to me like they are Mac gurus if they aren't.
