No, I don't like windows. You can find a decent mac laptop sub $400 that will run El Cap and looks decent. Its not that hard to do. Just some people in here seem to think its rocket science. Its not. This is a terrible place for advice. Not one person has mentioned the limitations for macs running Sierra. A few people have given me good advice and my hat is off to you but mostly this thread is 2 pages of worthless misinformation. Windows ... LOL.

LOL. Perhaps no one mentioned the limitations of running Sierra.....because it's still in beta. And since finding the $400 MacBook that meets all your requirements isn't hard to do, why did you start this thread?

Troll is obvious. His "requirements" do not fit his "budget." OP is here for the fun of it. We have all obliged.

p.s. I wouldn't buy a used mac older than 2012. And you guys keep saying "buy more memory and pop and SSD in there", which is an easy way to turn a 400$ machine into a 700$ machine, at which point he may as well buy a 700 machine!

If OP were serious he would either pony up more $$$, buy a Chromebook or an iPad.

You are completely missing the point of this thread as most have.

I own an iPad. Does a Chromebook even run photoshop? And the question is, can you upgrade older mac laptops to run El Capitan/Sierra. Like I said, I don't mind an older 2007 laptop, as long as you can patch a version of El Cap on it. I think the limitation might be the graphics card.

I think we all get the point of this thread now. You think this is a terrible place for advice, and yet you continue to ask for it. I agree that you're just trolling. Have fun with your $399 MacBook.

My best advice for you is to get a Mid/Late 2007 MacBook Pro.

It will do everything you want including running Photoshop.

Can it run El Capitan, Sierra? A mac with 10.6.8 is not supported by gmail and all of the current mac apps.

And no I'm not trolling. Just because you cannot answer a serious question does not make me a troll.

Just yesturday I bought a 2007 macbook pro yes it is old.

it can be upgraded and run el cap so ticks all boxes.
got a 17" model for £195 delivered including CS3 suite and license keys!

Bargain!

It will not replace my 2009 macbook but will be a good unit in my workshop or to sell to my friend who looking for a budget large apple.

Your original budget will get you a plenty good mac.
13" screens will probably get you more specs for your money as 15" your paying for the larger screen.

Plus if you need to go to clients then 13" more portable.

My 2009 will even run sierra so maybe think about that?
