For a little while I've been working on updating Spotify from time to time. I'm not adding any new features or anything crazy, but I've just been updating it visually to look like the new versions. I feel like I've made enough progress to show it off.
-Problems
A million of errors to click through as you open it
About window is wonky
A few fonts on some pages are messed up
Built in Stared playlist window top bar doesn't show up correctly but all other playlist previews do
No icon in dock
Scroll bar invisible
Wrong font colours in some areas
Album pages have incorect background colour
Correct background colour doesn't show up under album preview
*Picture 1 and 2.png are from earlier version
*If you would like a download, let me know and I'll supply the version you see in these snapshots

Does QEMU/Darwin work for running Intel apps on PPC? Or was that just a myth/something that had its development scrapped?

I don't know, but I'm thinking if it can then we'd all know and be running most modern intel software on our PowerPC macs.
I know this is an old post, just saw it though...

While we may be able to run Intel software that ran on Intel Leopard, we would not be able to run anything with Snow Leopard and up s it's requirement because we'd still be on an outdated OS. :D

@WalnutSpice has sent me the current beta and it's really not as bad as he makes it sound. The main problem is a billion error message on launch but just hold enter and you can blow through them in a few seconds. After that there certainly are a few problems but it looks nice and works pretty well for basic music listening. Great job WalnutSpice!

Lighter? I'd say it is already light with <10% of CPU and 80megs of Ram. Especially compared to iTunes (10)...
Are you sure you're talking about Spotify here?

Takes my latest-revision iMac G4 10 seconds to just load an artist page, and scrolling is basically not an option.

Oh, wow, how can it be so different between nearly equal computers? Latest revision means 1.25? Thats equal to my eMac that handles Spotify with ease... I'm sorry for you to hear that :/

That's definitely not the app causing that. I managed to run the edited G3 version at fine speeds on a 1998 233MHz Bondi Blue iMac G3 with 128MB of RAM. And the edited version only changes a variable that stops it from running on G3 systems, it does not alter anything that could speed up the app.

Yesterday something strange happened... I don't believe in miracles... but all of a sudded Spotify started to sync my Playlists between my PPCs and my Windows machine! I usually resetted Spotify on the PPCs once a week to get the Windows playlists but now it is synching instantly. Did the same happen to you?

I don't use Spotify on my MDD anymore but I remember a few months ago it stopped synching playlists with my Android phone (that's the one of the reasons I stopped using it). If it works again it's a great news!

I've found in the past few months syncing works but it's patchy - sometimes I've had to leave the machine on for hours for it to sync, other times it does it in seconds - maybe PPC clients are last in the queue server side?

I've been thinking the legacy Spotify API or whatever is manually updated once a month. The Top 50 and New Arrivals is what led me to think that. And I notice my playlists only sync up maybe once every two months but that may now be different.
