What is the name of the file you posted ?

In System Preferences, Energy Saver, you might check the box for Prevent computer form sleeping automatically when the display is off (Yosemite).

Can you test without any usb devices attached?

I have no jab devices attached other than the keyboard... So unplug that?

I do have an external thunderbolt hard drive system as well, thunderbay iv

I will try without these plugged in

Anyone try the following and have it fix the problem ?

In System Preferences, Energy Saver, check the box for "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off".

I was having trouble (not sure if it was the same) and the above fix it. It's a bit unclear exactly what that does and it's not checked by default (at least on mine).

That's what I did as well. I thought that disabled sleep altogether?

I left mine last night and put it to sleep via the apple icon top left of the screen.
This afternoon came to use it and it didn't wake up properly - didn't load lightroom, then I got the spinning wheel when I tried to open iPhoto.

Wouldn't restart via the Apple icon so had to resort to pressing the power button :(

First time I've experienced this in three plus weeks, if I tick the "prevent going to sleep when screen off" does that mean it won't sleep at all?

Any other fixes for this, ?
Sorry, base RiMac.

Somewhere In Time
Yosemite Issue

Here's what I can add:

Open Console, then search All Messages for “Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)”

Here's a site that has an explanation and may have a fix.

I lack the intestinal fortitude to try that yet. My initial backup of the machine to BackBlaze is in progress now so I'm not going to sleep the iMac anyway.

I hope this is a known issue at Apple and that they'll fix it in OSX 10.10.2.

Same issue :-(

I'm having exactly the same issue here. To me this happens EVERY time I put the iMac to sleep.

It sleeps (USB connected devices switch off) for about 10-20 seconds after that the USB devices power up and a bit after that the iMac awakens. Either with the screen on or sometimes with the screen off.

This happens a few times and suddenly the machine reboots showing exactly the same error as was displayed in the first post of this thread.

I can't trace if anything I did caused this; I migrated all settings and data from my old iMac (2011 model) that did NOT show this problem at all; so my assumption is that this has to do both with the hardware in combination with Yosemite probably.

I already repaired the rights, unplugged all USB divices, exchanged the USB Hub, tried with and without Bluetooth, with and without WiFi and I've tried switching on and off all options given in the power savings settings, both individually and combined. Nothing worked. The machine won't sleep (could live with that, temporarily) - but the crashes really are a huge concern.

Really hope anybody could come up with a solution, maybe we're all using some kind of software that's either outdated or fawed that causes this behaviour?

In the meantime I had also tried changing the hibernatemode, SMC reset and PRAM reset as well as repairing the rights - nothing worked. The iMac goes to sleep, wakes up erradically and eventually crashes and - depending on the power savings setting - reboot.

I am getting both "Sleep Wake Failure" and "A Graphics Problem Has Been Detected". Tried everything but still is happening. If it continues I will be calling Apple, I am still in the return window.

So am I but returning my 5k iMac ist by far no option. I've had sleep wake issues also 2011 with my then new iMac and they were gone after one or two OS updates. It's incredibly annoying and it must not happen, but for the moment I'll live with the first option in power settings pref pane (don't know what it's called in English).

At least, as quite a few people do have the same issues I'm rather sure there's nothing wrong with the machine itself.

I haven't had time to set up my new retina 27" iMac but will tell you that i noticed the other night i was unable to get it to rouse after sleep and restarted the machine

that said, i have not had time to play with it yet and its not a problem for me as I rarely use sleep feature anyhow

But i am only adding this in to let you know that I am yet to install any software on it so that would mean IF mine is any indication, it came like that

EDIT: Sorry, the ONLY software i have added to this new machine is my paid copy of Lil Snitch firewall. Not sure but when it happened to me but I believe it happened before i installed it, but i can't be positive.

I read the fixes on the page someone a few posts up posted but i see many have wifi issues afterwards so someone else says its not advisable to do

http://ispire.me/fix-yosemite-rtc-alarm-wakeup-issue/

Don’t do this, for now. --no-multicast disables Bonjour services and currently breaks Wi-Fi in two ways: prevents auto-reconnection to remembered networks and it also breaks the status icon. (SystemUIServer and friends would need to be fixed.)

I am in your same boat. I am on the verge of returning this machine, as much as I love it. It is beyond believe that a machine that cost as much as it did have this error happening constantly.

On top of getting those the "sleep wake failure" and the "Graphics problem has been detected" I get the "computer was restarted because of a problem"

Also on mission control I get graphic bugs.

Have you already talked to Apple? From what I read about the sleep wake issue the graphic glitches shown on your pics haven't been seen before. I do not have these glitches although graphics are nowhere near as smooth as on my old iMac 2011 and I get exactly the same errors (graphic problem, reboot, sleep wake failure).

I believe the latter are cause of some app/driver problems between Yosemite and the new iMac as I migrated the system from the old machine and it worked flawlessly on the old machine.

In another form I've read that Dropbox seemed to cause a lot of trouble and one user could resolve the wakeup/reboot issue by deinstalling dropbox. I also have Dropbox installed - do you have it installed too? Going to uninstall it this evening and see if anything improves.

I'm going to the Apple Store tomorrow and I will post what information I am given there.

This issue is also being spoken about in the apple discussion forums:

So while still having no solution I've tried several things to solve the problem though:

I've read in some forums that dropbox might have been an issue. Uninstalled it, problem persisted.

I've also unpluged each USB cable one after the other to see if any of the USB devices caused the Problem. No result. My iMac persistantly woke up from sleep even with no USB device connected at all.

Logs show the following on each occasion:
  • Wake reasion: XHC1 (which apparently is USB)
  • The USB device BRCM20702 Hub (Port 8 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (3)
  • The USB device Bluetooth USB Host Controller (Port 3 of Hub at 0x14800000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (3)

Systemprofile tells us that:
  1. 0x14000000 i couldn't clearly identify but
  2. 0x148000000 should be "BRCM20702 Hub

Conclusion:
As no EXTERNAL USB Device caused the iMac to wake up it must either be a driver failure or someting similar within the machine or some bluetooth device. The latter is less likely as it's the third of three wake reason provided by the console.

I do not have any wired keyboard or mouse so I can't verify wether Apples wireless Keyboard & Trackpad could be an issue.

Would be great if you guys could check the console if you see similar wake reasons...

I cannot say for sure, but from what I have read it is happening solely in the Retina machines. I'm thinking some sort of conflict with the AMD graphics card v. the NVIDIA that was formerly used. I think the sleep/wake issue(at least in my machine) is stemming from the "graphics card problem detected" . What I would be more curious to know is whether it will be a hardware or software fix.

Yeah, I too think these two failures might be connected. Weird thing is: only the dialogue box appearing showing that the mac was rebooted due to an error reacts on clicking "report" - the dialoguebox showing the graphics error doesn't show any report when clicking the button.

Mine has been doing the same thing, and requires me to physically unplug the power cord to reboot. Holding power button does nothing.

It didn't do this before I set it up, including adding external USB drives/hub, so I suspect it's something to do with that, or perhaps a piece of software loaded since getting it.
When I first got the machine, I set it up for a few days without connecting anything external, and merely focused on getting bootcamp/Windows 8.1 installed properly (was interested in doing this as my 2011 iMac refused to install windows via bootcamp, and I had to rely on VMware).

So far this AM it "slept" overnight after clicking the "not sleeping when display sleeps" option in Energy Saver and I had no problems this AM. We shall see-I use it to stream movies for my 3 yr old, and if it's unavailable when I'm at work, there's hell to pay!
