Now you only need a can of dark grey paint :D

In the process of ordering a maxed out 12" (1.4/16/512) in spacegrey.

North of 2000€ around here :(

That's a lot of money for that machine. I ended up picking up a windows machine because the baseline MacBook pro was disappointing, ended up getting an i7 (U version, not the Y in the MacBook)/16/512SSD for $700. Good screen, keyboard, battery life, and build quality too.

We're still 2 years away from where everyone wants the MacBook to be. Unfortunately, the chips we want that will make this a viable machine still aren't there (Icelake/Tigerlake).

Don't worry, what is viable will be redefined by that time.

The chips in todays MB are about as powerfull as "pros" were some years ago

They're all still so expensive. They should cut the prices of the MB and MBP and discontinue the MBA.

Take a look at the Mac lineup. It's their lowest selling category of products and it's split into SEVEN different product categories. MB, MBA, MBP, iMac, iMac Pro, Mac Pro and Mac Mini. What a mess.
I read this line of thinking often and I don't understand it.
Consumers have SEVEN choices to choose from when buying a Mac. I thought choice was a good thing.
But do we really have SEVEN choices.
The Mac Pro and Mac Mini have not been updated in so long they are no longer choices. So Mac users who want a Mac without a screen have NO choice.
Mac buyers still have FIVE choices.
Wait, the iMac Pro isn't available for at least 6 months.
I guess that is now FOUR choices. So what is in those remaining choices? An updated iMac, and a couple of updated laptops. Is the Air still a choice? From what I read, people are still buying it. Maybe they prefer the ports and 13 inch screen over the 12 inch retina screen and lack of ports. Seems like Apple could put a retina screen on the Air with newer processors and get rid of the MacBook.
I wouldn't call it "SEVEN different product categories."
I see two product categories.
Portable and non-portable.
Within those two categories I see consumer and pro lines of products.
Apple needs to finish updating the lines of computers they sell and then keep them current.
Choice is king for consumers. currently, Apple just isn't really providing much choice when buying a new updated computer. If you want an expensive laptop or iMac they have you covered.
I hope Apple continues to put some focus on the Mac line to benefit all consumer's needs.

Yikes... you gave in. Apple without SJ is slowly jedi mind tricking people, and you gave in. I'm not talking about some out dated technology. A 1000 years from now, if there is some product tethered to some cord, it will be awesome to have some simple release mechanism like mag safe so you don't break the product when you forget to remove the tethering. Tim Cook took that away from us. Let me know if I'm conceptually wrong, and I'll stop complaining.
The future is passive wireless charging. That's what apple wants to get to. Magsafe was going to disappear sooner or later anyway, and they decided to jump ship on it before the wireless charging was ready.

I purchased the first generation of the new MacBook, and it's been the worst Apple product I have ever purchased since 1983. The keyboard is garbage, and 20% of keys stopped working within 6-months.

I owned the exact same 1st gen MacBook for a whole year. No complaints on keyboard or anything else. Got used to it in about a month. The real pain is the only one port.

Sold to Macofalltrades for $615 and quite happy with what I got.

I'm afraid they can't put a 720p or 1080p there because the display is too tiny.
Macbook Air ships with a 720p camera and is cheaper, so I don't think it is a commercial choice.
I guess we'll have to wait until they find a camera module tiny enough to fit into their machine capable of delivering 720 or 1080.
True, even the MBP got a 720p camera, not 1080p because the screen is too damn thin!

Well, if a thousand years from now, or even a hundred for that matter, we're still using cables, we failed. Big time.
