How will they have it in stock in time if the stores aren't receiving boxes yet?

Because they need boxes tonight to sell them tomorrow. Not before. And there's no real secret on the content of the boxes so an employee is unlikely to risk their job by uploading a pic.

How ridiculous!
Every week it's the same. Since June: "It's this tuesday or this friday! blabla".
It's a never ending story. And if it's not tomorrow or this friday, then it's december 4th or 7th and so on.

Nobody knows the exact release date. All people are just guessing the date. It could be every tuesday or friday till 2013.

Here still another guess: do not expect it to be delivered to Belgium before the end of...February 2013

Actually Apple seems perfectly capable of having stuff delivered today for sale in the store today. But they do like to have the display units on hand the night before if possible.

I did read two weeks ago in one of those no-really-those-initial-rumors-are-wrong-and-the-iMac-is-coming-out-in-November-after-all articles that the iMac would go on sale on 11/27. It said that both the 21" and 27" would be on sale, with the 27" expected with a delay in shipping.

I'll try to find the article again so you guys can tear it to shreds...

I think it was from 9 to 5 Mac saying that the 27" would be on sale with the 21.5" in November (most likely tomorrow), but will have a 2 week shipping time frame. This makes the most sense.

I am looking forward to ordering a BTO 21.5, just hope that it doesn't take 2 weeks to ship.

Just spoke to an Apple person online and they said that the imac 21" will 100% be released this week, so basically tommorow :) Also fusion will be instant shipping :D

I have to admit, the Mini is becoming more tempting by the minute. Especially using this piece of crap Windows machine.

There is something totally wrong here. How could Apple miss Black Friday without a single iMac for sale?

I tried to buy the older 21.5 inch model in an Apple store 3 weeks ago - they were all gone, as were the refurbished iMacs as well. There has not been an iMac for sale for a month ....

Someone has really screwed up something in the design or manufacturing of the new models.

I really need a new iMac for the office - and I'd like to get the purchase on the books for this fiscal (and calendar) year - but I really worry about the high potential for quality issues in this new product. I may just wait for a few months to see how the dust settles.

I figure quality issues, if there are any, are Apple's problem, not mine. Ok, a little inconvenient for me, but expensive for them if I need to take it in multiple times for warranty issues. For this reason I believe they will have worked very hard to not see all their pretty little machines walking back in the door.

hah i could have predicted this one. its the last tuesday of november! not much of a inside scoop... its apples last "tuesday" of "november" chance to keep their word on the november release date..smh

OK for you - but my Apple store is a 2 hour trip - both ways. It kills a day to go there ---

I was wanting to get a 27" iMac on my 2012 taxes, but I think I'm going to wait a few months. My 24" iMac is still running great and the way Apple has handled the iMac announcement and release of the new iMac (among other things) is making me a bit nervous.

I made the rant about this being a BS "paper launch" on the day of the announcement and it was all "no mojo, you're wrong" or "you're overreacting, mojo"

Anyone else frustrated by paper launch tactics yet?

How come that "days since the last imac" counter isnt still tallying?

The only one screwing up badly here is Tim Cook, who should move himself back to the COO position - he doesn't have the bandwidth to focus on more than supply-chain aspects.

Since his taking the reins as CEO, supply issues have become more and more the norm at Apple - a CEO provides the vision, something he does NOT have.

Agree. A CEO has to have vision. The CEO of Apple has to be more than a visionary. Apple is a special company that makes the impossible possible. They start the trends and set the market. Currently Apple has fallen behind. His presentations lend one to believe he is not the person to guide Apple.

Back to topic, this wait is beyond old and should be getting embarrassing for Apple.

I texted my friend again today, "I know I've been saying this since July, but I think tomorrow is the day". Lets hope that it works out :D

Not that they know any more than us usually, but I had to call a business sales rep (due to questions about payment options after having my debit card # stolen this weekend). She said if they were to take a while to officially be available for sale there shouldn't be a problem since I'd have a new card, but "if they WERE released tomorrow" (with a strong "hint, hint" tone), I can do a wire transfer. I can't imagine the business sales reps aren't told at least a day in advance to prepare for incoming flood of orders.

I can't wait, not because I'm getting a 21" but so you guys can be guinea pigs for what's to expect on the 27" :)
