Not that they know any more than us usually, but I had to call a business sales rep (due to questions about payment options after having my debit card # stolen this weekend). She said if they were to take a while to officially be available for sale there shouldn't be a problem since I'd have a new card, but "if they WERE released tomorrow" (with a strong "hint, hint" tone), I can do a wire transfer. I can't imagine the business sales reps aren't told at least a day in advance to prepare for incoming flood of orders.

or YOU put too much in what she says because you want it to happen. SHe doesn´t know and I´ve now heard tons of apple sale reps. telling thing that doesnt happen. So it doesn´t mean anything more than what any person the the street would say to you.

I know that is reality, but if it came out tomorrow it would be my luck, since I currently don't have a card to put it on :)

I'll give BRLawyer and Scrub175 up arrows - a view I have opined on several times. There is little, if any evidence, of Tim Cook having any game changing product vision. He is dropping the ball on operations / supply chain front for sure.

That said, he is facing an issue that few, if any companies, have had to solve. Precision crafted / high end products requiring new and somewhat unproven manufacturing technologies coupled with very high demand.

Time will tell but Tim needs to ramp his game up if he can.

IMO you have to offer the 27" for orders the same day as 21". Customers have to price compare and make a decision. It would be crazy to not do it this way.

Nope, it shows up 539 days and "October 2012" as the refresh.

I'm speaking of the buyer's guide on this site.

Which is misleading at best. Obviously MacRumors shouldn't bother until Apple start iMac deliveries, simply because it made a fake announce just like many other tech companies do. Just news, no real stock yet.

How about they announce iMac on October 2012, only to find out it starts selling on June 2013? And during that time there is no actual iMac available online. Only a continuously depleting old stock in the Apple Store.

How can the refresh day count zeroed back for that?

I have the genuine skinny on this. My uncle knows someone who has a relative who used to work for an Apple supplier's mother in law...

Release of the 27 inch iMac is scheduled for December 2012.

In Apple's corporate calendar that means February next year, unless you want a special order (i7, extra memory, better graphics, etc.) in which case you are looking at March 2013.

Maybe.

Vale, Steve. Apple is falling over. Insanely late.

The wait is almost over!! Let the 27" preorders begin (I hope)!

Even if the 27" won't be available to preorder I'll still be happy to see the config price options at the very least, although the GTX 680MX upgrade won't be of choice.

So, can I go to bed now?

IF they go on sale online Tuesday, then does that mean at midnight tonight EST, or mid-morning tomorrow?

I can't wait, not because I'm getting a 21" but so you guys can be guinea pigs for what's to expect on the 27" :)

That's my feeling, too. The 27" is huge, but I want the better GPU. Just putting in my own RAM should save a little of the price difference. Plus, I get a quality report first.

I'm guessing either midnight Cupertino time online if they plan on having them in stores in the morning on the East Coast, or 10AM Cupertino time if they won't be in stores yet

guess I'll go to bed and refresh when the alarm goes off in 6 hours :)

This was a question I had, regardless of intro date. The local Apple store opens at 10 a.m. EST, so 10 a.m. Pacific won't work since they have to be set up when the stores open up. Unless its an online order situation.

Time will tell.
