No, it's not genuine. And I know, that's probably why it doesn't work in the first place, but it's worth a try, because my buddy can't find his OS X CDs.

It not being genuine may be the problem as to why it cannot boot from it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I guess I'm just out of luck unless I get the retail discs.
