iMac on vacation

So my wife and I went on our annual three-day weekend get-away and wanted to be able to watch movies at night without relying on the in-room cable and pay-per-view. The solution: iMac!! It was so nice having my main machine with us in the room and transporting it/set-up is really not an issue being an all-in-one. I would totally do this again. To all you iMac owners, don't be bashful about taking your machine out of the house. Yes it's large, but far more manageable than a PC desktop.

The best part was the looks and smiles of passersby as I brought it up to our room. And yes, that is a grape puck mouse. Didn't feel the need to bring my wireless keyboard and Magic Trackpad.

Why the bad attitude?

Being that I don't own an iMac (yet) I'm not really sure how portable they really are, but that said it's not a bad option for being able to watch movies/tv at night in the hotel room. Also, if it's a business trip (granted a laptop is easier to carry around) you could probably get use out of it for end of day notes, office, etc.

Not a bad idea, but a laptop on your waist while laying in bed next to your significant other (or kids?) can provide a similar experience without the weight/transportation hassle

And to think, there are probably countless guys (and girls...this IS the 21st century, after all) who would be willing to show him what to do demonstrate to do for free.

Really? I never had an issue. I carry a WD TV for this very reason.
I would never carry such a beast with me on vacation. I want to pack light and make the most of my time. If I were with a spouse then the time spent in the room would be time spent bumping uglies.

A husband and wife have a busy life. There could be kids, a dog, and fussy neighbors in the mix. They want to get away from it all and relax together. No distractions. Just them. Why wouldn't they want to watch a movie? Snuggle up, turn on the tube, and just relax. The wife knows that the husband is an Apple fanboy. She knows he gets a kick out of exercising technology. Indulging his whims is her gift to him. The big question now is what is his gift to her?

It's not snarky to say I wouldn't lug that **** around. It's just my opinion that if I am away on vacation then I'd prefer to make use of the time away.

Maybe so. My wife and I do it from time to time. But like I said, this is ONE weekend a year for them - if that's the only time they have to get around to some serious bone burying, and they can't do it without porn...well, I'm not generally one to judge, but still.
