Sign me up for the most expensive one I can buy. In all seriousness, great for those who need this power!
This power will be obsolete in less than 10 years- too bad it's non-upgrade-able.

Having worked in many business and owned many computers in my life, I’ve seen very few that are still doing anything useful after 10 years, upgradable or not. This power will be obsolete in less than 10 years- too bad it's non-upgrade-able.

And, of course, the iMac pro IS upgradeable. That’s what it’s usb-c/thunderbolt ports are for. External graphics cards, storage, etc. are all very doable.
Thunderbolt/Usb C Ram? And of course I mention 10 years as a generously wide berth, by 3 years it definitely would be showing its age, most "Pros" I know would want more flexibility than what usbc/thunderbolt alone offer
Ok, I've now heard the word "stealthy" to discuss the color scheme of a desktop and I'm curious. How do people picture themselves using a "stealthy" computer? Are they sneaking around at night with an iMac under their arm and the space grey color will make them less noticeable?
You were going to buy an iMac Pro but that article scared you into a different workstation purchase decision? What in that article is so frightening to you? What have you decided to buy instead?New info, posted right here on MR, that cements, for me, that i will not be buying an iMac Pro.

Reading a lot into my comment, all wrong. You were going to buy an iMac Pro but that article scared you into a different workstation purchase decision? What in that article is so frightening to you? What have you decided to buy instead?

1. Never said i was going to buy a workstation.
2. Frightening?
3, Haven't decided on anything yet. But it won't be an iMAc Pro.
i had already decided not to buy one. That article "cemented" IE reinforced my decision. There are many things that had gone into my decision, cost, way too powerful for what I do, AIO, not upgradeable, difficult to repair. All the things that have been posted here. This was, if you will, one more nail in the already nailed shut coffin. Nothing more, nothing less.Oh ok. I thought you’d been considering an iMac Pro... you did say after reading that MR article you’d definitely decided not to buy one.
If you’re not going to buy a workstation, the iMac Pro isn’t the best fit for you, probably. Especially if you’re not in the market for an all in one workstation.
I know that, I really doubt they will deliver on all criteria I outlined though if past Mac refreshes from other lines are any indication though.Apple are working on a Mac Pro, this iMac Pro isn’t meant to replace that.
I read that you can take it into Apple and they can add more RAM later, often as lower cost than if originally ordered. Is this true? I ordered the 10 core, 64GB, 1TB but am thinking that i should have ordered 2TB.Because unlike my current iMac I cannot just open the door on the bottom and add ram. Also these types of use cases use A LOT of ram. 128GB is going to be needed.
I don’t I don’t feel that at all, why do you say that? I know 4 “pros” whatever that is, that has ordered already. They all make a living in the film/tv industry and are quite happy about the new iMac pro. I would love one, but as I’m mainly a cameraman, it’s a stretch to fork out 7000 usd for a computer. I’m thinking I’ll have to do with the normal ImacWhy does it feel like an "iMac Pro" was pushed/developed by marketing and not engineering?
As a group, developers seem pretty into the iMac pro as well. And those who use Logic Pro are pretty excited, it loves cores.I don’t I don’t feel that at all, why do you say that?
