I, for one, certainly appreciated the post, as someone who is eagerly awaiting new iMacs. It's probably nothing... But then again, how common are chip shortages this far into a chip's lifecycle except/unless the replacements are arriving soon?

If it's nothing then it's nothing, but if some lady in Milan that nobody's ever heard of looking at brightly colored sport bands is worth a post, so is this.

Thanks for the nice comment.

I do respect the original commenter's opinion. Not everyone is going to like every article.

We always strive for balanced and timely coverage of Apple news and rumors.

(P.S. There is naturally going to be a lot of Apple Watch coverage surrounding the launch of the product.)

Is there a new graphics card they can put in the retina? I heard the existing version isn't the best at pushing all those pixels.

I wondered about that too. The r-iMac with upgraded graphics has 4GB of VRam, the same as the standard 27" iMac with upgraded graphics, but memory is of course only part of the equation.

However this article is not about delayed shipping times for the r-iMac.

How about MacBook Pro Retina 15"?
The higher end is up to 1-2 weeks.
Really hoping they'll drop the price… I'm eyeing it but $2,499 to get the 512GB onboard?

They have to update their entire line-up in the coming months to support USB-C. My fear is seeing all the ports they take away to try and force this stupid port to be standard.

I wouldn't mind seeing USB-C ports.

The issue with the RMB was that it didn't come with a complimentary adapter. Which means you'd be spending an additional 70-80$ on an already-overpriced computer.

Hopefully these Macs will come with one, if the ports ever get updated. Otherwise my opinion for Apple is just going to wane even further.

Many of Apple's competitors are skipping Broadwell on their high end computers in favor of Skylake since it is coming out in the fall. Apple would wise to do the same for the iMacs and 15 inch MacBook Pro.

Disagree. The iMacs, other than low end 21" and retina 27", are 19 months old with no spec bump and no price drop. Update them now and in October or November if you have to, but don't leave them languishing for the fall or we're looking at two full years between updates.

WWDC will announce OS X 10.11, iOS 9, Apple TV, and new iMac.

The 15" MacBook Pro will have a silent update.

Then when they announce the iPhone in late summer/early fall, they will also talk about new iPad Pro.

Then we'll see new Watch models, new MacBooks, and it all cycles again over and over and over again.

Meh.

My 27" 2011 supped up iMac is serving me just fine and will for the foreseeable future. Hopefully longer since I'll finally be adding an SSD in the next couple months.

I don't see myself needing to get a new desktop for at least another 18 months, which will be fall 2016. At which point, the 2016 iMac will have just been refreshed or I'll just go for a Mac Pro. In either case, I hope 4k displays (or 5k in the case of the iMac) will be much less expensive than they are now.

bring on the new MBPs!!!
i wonder/hope they add a 13" with the specs of a top end 15" #1CanDream

All iMacs will eventually have Retina displays. They're simply best. But what I find most ridiculous is the fact that Apple has yet to update its external Thunderbolt Display. Pathetic.

So true. Apple always neglected and overpriced their only external monitor.

Their uniquely Apple-looking monitor could have brought in so much money and made a lot of Apple-styling OCD-customers very, very happy.

Gorgeous matching Mac, keyboard, mouse, white cables, iPhone, iPad, fancy chargers, etc (and now, even an Apple WATCH).

But then, external monitor: plastic, black, square corner, some 2nd-rate brand eyesore LCD display.

it was an epic fail when they didn't update it with the trashcan Mac Pro

What usually happens with ppl who buy an imac a few days or a week before a new update? I ordered a BTU iMac a couple of weeks ago and it shipped on friday. What should I do?

October or November would be over two years. The current iMacs were last updated in September 2013.

This has always been my biggest gripe with Apple. Part of me thinks it's the riMac. They want to keep it as the reigning flagship, but if they update the non-retinas with the same GPUs/CPUs or give them a 980M, people would be less inclined to go for the retina 5K.

Yep. That was actually one of the reasons I got my Retina iMac. It was the latest and greatest. If they update non-Retina 27-inchers, better still, if they update them with new NVidia GPUs, the 5K iMac must be updated alongside.

They probably run out of soldering and glueing materials for next iMac.

Waterproof to 150 ft, thin like the WATCH band, soldered drive, soldered dual-core, soldered fans, soldered 2GB RAM, soldered batteries, soldered chassis, glued screen, glued cover, zero ports (wireless port dongles and wireless power supply not included). :D

What are you doing here ???? Don't give them ideas, please ! ;)
