A big deal would be if the display it comes with supported 120hz or 8k and 120hz. What's the point of this? Just buy the new mini with the same chip set and your 8k display. Is someone going to offset the iMac to the left or right side of the desk having the 8k 120hz display front and center?

As far as I understood the human eye isn’t capable of seeing any difference over 4k so effectively 8k will just look the same anyway. Not sure how much truth there was to that though?
If you can see it or not depends on the size of the screen and your distance from it. I think you'd not notice the difference on a 24-inch screen but you would notice it on a 100-inch screen. 100 seems big but I can imagine editing video and I'd want a near theatrical size screen to watch it on.

How is it possible without TB5? Is the link correct? It shows me 60hz instead of 120hz. Did I make a mistake?

I can't see this being useful to more than a couple of hundred people.
FYI, 4K at less than 32" is a waste... you would need a really huge screen for 8K to even be visible.

I personally don't see a difference with 60 vs 120Hz either, but maybe some do... But you're going to need a giant $20,000 monitor and a huge desk for this.

Thank you. Placing my order in Canada right now.
Hold on. It is clear that even Apple itself doesn't know what should be listed right now. And different regions page may just be slower to be corrected.

Technically, it makes much more sense to not yet supporting 8k120 in any capacity before TB5, since this would have meant enabling DP2.0 alone within the TB4 port where this isn't even required by the TB specs.

Also makes a lot more sense when it turns out that Max Tech is wrong. :)

What did they say?

I am much more amazed by Apple not catching this, almost 12 hours in after the announcement.

EDIT: I see what you meant. I have no idea why macrumors chose to quote Max Tech on 8k120 when the bit is (was) literally in Apple website specsheet. This is a case of Apple ****ing up, and everyone including Max Tech and us just followed along.

Good to see that a single 8K display is now supported or even two 6K displays. Nice change.

I wonder if they redesigned the logic boards to fix the storage issues. Basically a blown chip stops the storage chip from working. It’s a ticking time bomb.

F**k me. My worst nightmare is coming true. Just dropped 2 grand on the Apple studio display, and this proves now the stage is set for future Apple monitor releases @ 120Hz. F**K!! I can totally see them releasing a new monitor along side the Mac Studio next year. Turns out you don’t need thunderbolt 5 for 120hz. Just need a more powerful CPU hence the M4. F**K!!
Hello sir, it happens.
The Studio Display is a great display (never understood the hate against it), I got two of them and didn’t look back.

If it makes you that uncomfortable, then you could just return it (if you got the option) but guaranteed those will be a whole lot more expensive not to mention the need to also buy an M4+ Mac.

It's a computer, not rocket science

At least this is better version of the original versions sloppy, meager, silly offerings for the price. At least.

That said, the ZEALOTS don't want to hear any concerns or criticism, and most of us can care less.

Ironically, it' always the ZEALOTS that are complaining...about complainers. It's so silly.

"I wonder what percentage actually own a Mac and what percentage just enjoy griping about Apple and a using Windows or Linux.''

WTH. Look...no one cares about your feelings, this has nothing to do with the hardware itself. Just silly ramblings which are a cover for 'being tired of complainers'.

8gb of ram STILL costs 200.00. a 1TB 'upgrade' (lol) is still 400.00. Guess that's all fine and dandy then. The real version..ahem..has a whopping 2 more EFFICIENCY cores, not performance cores...on a desktop computer?

LOL I wish I could sell you some stocks, overcharge out the whazoo and you will gladly pay it..and NOT. COMPLAIN. I have bridges to sell you also. It's great to love your mac or your iphone..but other well informed techies and consumers understand the rereal ways appple screws us over, even when we are all in.

If you don twant to read complaints, kindly get off the friggin internets. It’s that simple...so please stop complaining about complainers.
Sir, I can understand where you come from, as at least it isn’t a trolling one liner farming for reactions.

However, did you just complain about complainers complaining about complainers?
(not telling you to stop or quit it or similar, I usually skip through, but this one warranted the question)

Couldn't/can't care less. If you can care less "that means you do care, at least a little." - Weird Al.

I'm sorry, but Pot, meet kettle. Your post is purely to complain about a complainer.

I guess you missed the irony of telling complainers they are complaining about complainers.

So yeah..im not complaining, um no. Just calling out the folks who constantly whine about critical views of apples moves. Its so useless..trying to defend apple in comments..for what. Ots just hardware and it is what it is. Some good moves, others are crap and should be criticized.

So yah..complain all you want ABOUT THE HARDWARE...why should I care. I read to learn about specs and capabilities, not telling others to hush because I dont like that they said.

Apples ram and storage prices haven't changed..thats enough ammo. 256gb base very respectable*** I wonder what year that will change . Hey look, a fast 1b stick fpr 100 or less...at retail(!)....sorry apple.

Just for ironic effect. You almost got it. 😆

There is still now way I am downsizing from my 27 inch display. I can not believe that they think only offering a computer that is 3 inches smaller is not a problem.

Man, size does not matter, it is how you use it... 🥲
