I asked because the consensus in that thread seemed to be that virtually all cases of ghosting were on LG displays ... (Not all LG displays have ghosting -- it's just that if ghosting happened, it seemed likely to be an LG display.)

Poor quality…

Confirmed +1
This is the 2nd rMBP since my machine got replaced. Both are LG displays.
Now, I have the image retention issue under both Lion and Mountain Lion… Not happy about this.

I was thinking about picking up an rMBA to replace my Macbook Air (not loving the screen. It's ok, but not great). I was in BB today and played with one for a while and was amazed by it. But now I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll just return the MBA and wait for a while.

LG screen : possible Image Retention which, unlike Image Burn In, fades away in a few minutes like on most modern Plasma TVs. Other than this, the LG screens have great uniformity!

Samsung screen : Doesn't seem to be plagued with ghosting / IR issues, but has tint and light bleed issues.

Pick your poison! I'd take a LG screen over Sammy any day!

Unless you have major IR issues, just forget it and enjoy the damn computer!!!

So if you go to Apple store and purchase a rMBP, should one request Samsung/LG panel. Or it is more a russian roulette. Stuff like these leave you no choice and hope Apple make it right on the next release.

Yeah, it's the draw of the luck... that's a given. But, I see people complaining a lot more about LG over Samsung just because Samsung has much more propaganda!

Ultimately, there is no reason or excuse for such inconsistency in QC for a $2000+ product!!
