I hope they open this Magic Bar to developers on day 1 with an API... ;):apple:

I think that's reason why we only got a Xcode 8.1 GM and not a final Xcode 8.1 release with yesterdays macOS update, the official release will most probably include Magic Bar API's.

Looks like the OLED strip has the TouchID sensor in its screen, so they found a way to include TouchID without the aluminium ring. This is sooooo exciting, since this technology will likely be found in the new iPhone! I'm really interested how they achieved this :)

//Turns out I was wrong. Thanks für correcting me! The button was extremely hard to see with Night Shift on and low brightness...

iPhone 7 still has an aluminum ring?

Interesting looking device. I don't think it looks as good as the outgoing rMBPs. The speaker grilles on the 13" model and the "MacBook Pro" text on the front look tacky. The keyboard is likely the "butterfly" style keyboard, which, while posing certain advantages such as quietness and thinness, doesn't feel quite as good as the older chiclet keyboard.

I'm not in the market for a MacBook Pro anytime soon (my mid-2014 rMBP suits all of my needs absolutely perfectly,) but this device in these images looks a bit too gaudy for my tastes.

Right now the older keyboards still work just fine after 5+ years.
The newer ones already have been showing some easier wear and tear with my family members.
How are these butterfly keys? Will they last a couple of years only?
I am looking to buy a system that will last me 5+ years, not 2.

Looks a bit bit slimmer but not so much.

"It appears Touch ID is built directly into the OLED panel, with no dedicated Touch ID button depicted."

Not sure I'd agree. Seems to me there's clearly a delineation from the OLED bar in that image. Put me in the 'separate physical power/TouchID button' camp.

edit - Good job on updating the article :)
