I have some mixed feelings on this having owned the previous model.

They are pretty much perfect in their implementation, seamlessly choosing to use the extra battery before the phone but also making sure the phone charges first. It works perfectly and I feel happier knowing the battery meets Apple's safety standards.

On the other hand while it might sound trivial, they are obscenely ugly. I think time has made us forget just what a shock it was when we first saw them - most assumed they were fakes or an april fool's joke. Even the cheapest, most rubbish, chinese battery pack has contours that match the phone (many of them of course don't have an L shaped battery just air/plastic in the upper corner). I suppose the Apple ones at least look functional but it doesn't match the Apple design language and I loathe the way it looks. Apple is in a position where they have the economies of scale and production run sizes to get batteries custom made to give a perfect fit, allowing a power pack that follows the lines of the phone perhaps gently tapering away at the ends or else at least matching the phone's shape. It's a very - very - overused bit of rhetoric, but there is no question that Jobs wouldn't have allowed this ungainly design. By all accounts it was Jobs who couldn't even stand the thought of the camera lens sticking out a fraction of an inch!

So - I'll buy one and I am sure it will work flawlessly. But I will have the very unusual experience with Apple of knowing I am buying something far more ugly and cheap looking than the third party stuff. Very strange!

If you’re a commuter and heavily use your phone without access to a Charger throughout the day, this extended battery case is ideal for this. The heft is the downside, but obviously one has to look past the bulk of the battery case.

You mean that the Apple internal teams are actually communicating!!! Maybe this product will actually come out before Christmas to compete with the other battery cases!!!
From a technical standpoint, there is no better battery case than the one made by Apple

It’s smart in that it will show you the better level in Notification Center and prioritize using the battery case instead of the internal battery so the phone is always topped up. It also prioritizes charging the phone before the case when charging from a wire. Personally I prefer it this way over manually toggling it on/off, which I’ve done before with non Apple battery cases.

I wish it would allow the phone to drain to 80% before using the external battery. Or better yet, habe an option to never let the phone go over 80%. Better for the built in battery.

Kool-Aid? I’ve used both and am speaking from experience. Max lasts easily a good 2-3 hours longer than regular Pro. Seems you haven’t even given Max a try before doubting our claims. Pro Max the new battery king is no myth.

not what i said at all. People here are acting like the max goes for DAYS with actual use. Which is total BS.

I’m waiting for one and going to order one as soon as they become available.
Currently I’m using a modified Xs Max battery case with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, had to cutout camera, volume, and sleep button.

And yes it works perfectly fine with the software etc

It shames me to say it, but this is the rate of ‘innovation’ we’ve been seeing at Apple. It’s an absolute embarrassment that I shelled out another $1500 for the 11 Pro Max after 12 months of shelling out the same for the XS Max.
Let’s say it as it is: The 11 has an extra camera. That’s it. The very fact that you need to see side-by-side photos to notice the enhanced camera quality shows you that you don’t %#*ing need it. But me being the schmuck I am had to buy it anyways.

Anyone know if the iPhone 11 Pro Max case will fit and work on an iPhone XS Max? I’ve gotten two XS Max battery cases and both have not worked. The XS Max ones are not available on Apples website so figured maybe try the 11 Pro Max one.

thoughts? Buttons all the same size and in the same location? Don’t care a ou the camera button working.
