For the novices having problems with the roms, you're doing it wrong....

iMame4all is based on an old version of Mame (0.375b). You need to find the right versions of the roms as they change over time and so are (to a degree) specific to a version of Mame.

So either find the correct versions of the roms or create your own, for which you'd need; the current rom set, the rollback rom set, clrmame pro and the clrmame dat file for iMame4all. Google it if you need more info.

I'll help out a little more ;) That version of the rom set is key, folks. Roms from that set will work flawlessly with this version of MAME. Having the matching named rom from that list isn't enough - you need to have the name AND the set number.

To get them on your iPhone/iPod, download iExplorer, which is free, for Mac and PC. Open it with your device tethered via USB. Go into the Apps folder, find iMAME, then open the Documents folder. Drop something in there, then in the App, go to options and click rescan. You can experiment while the app is running, so you can add, scan, delete as much as you'd like.

Have fun, and be responsible ;)

That said, I'm stunned by the ease of use, quality, speed, and price.

People seriously , many others have posted how to add the files to this app , Google Ifunbox and use that.

this version is based on Mame version 0.37b5, google it and good luck , very nice app . also the read me says some additional games from newer MAME versions are supported .

Pretty sad that everyone has to scramble to get legal software before the apple overlords deem it unfit for consumption.

It's Apple's store and they are free to set and apply its rules accordingly...I think the success of the App Store speaks for itself, and they are more than entitled to minimize legal risks, especially in litigation-friendly jurisdictions such as the US.

Having said that, feel free to download it while still available...at least Apple doesn't remote-kill switch content you already have like Amazon once did...

Couldn’t find it via a search right on the iPad; I thought maybe it was just too new, or maybe it was pulled. But I found it: thanks to the direct link in the MR article.

Already tried and it works well on iPad; however, the included ROMs are from very old arcades which I've never really enjoyed...worth downloading anyway.

I have found all of one rom file that will play on this. It's a copy of Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time, and it was the second or third copy that I tried.

I'm checking for compatible titles against this previously linked list: http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList

Maybe I'm just having unusually bad luck with it, or I've simply yet to find a dependable source for games.

I just got an iCade, and the other day I was staring at it thinking, man, it would be so great to play some old school Donkey Kong on this.

Apparently, someone somewhere heard me!

And the appropriate rom set version number is??

I'm seeing everything from v0.128u5 to v0.139. Which one corresponds to MAME v0.375b?

edit - found it, GP2X set

Can't seem to find Roms for this thing any where.. Am I supposed to convert newer versions of mame Roms to work with this version?

Search google. I just added Mario Bros. It works fine. Awesome. :) I used iExplorer to add the rom. Also leave the rom zipped. So it should read mario.zip or whatnot.

Anyone have experiance with this guy Rockwaldo(google) some people were recomending him. on his site he sells dvd of mame roms for any version you want, and for a mame4all dvd it cost only £3.45 or £3.90, I'm not sure if the dvd is a copy of every rom made or not. But it might be worth it.

Just found the mother load of .37 Roms was almost 600mb my question now is would there be a way to play against/with another buddy of mine with an idevice like a real arcade that would be awesome

Memories…

DoDonPachi (International) is flipped upside down but there is a solution:

All working fine so far with iMAME!

Question about iCade

Looking at the iCade website, looks like it's standalone i.e. won't charge your iPad... is this the case? Needs 2xAA batteries apparently

Trying to justify buying it on the grounds that it may be a fancy charger for the iPad!

Is it possible to find a Super Mario rom on this? Or is it just games from the 80s and whatnot. :D

Super Mario is from the eighties!

Anyway, this seems to work. I'm looking forward to getting some old ROMs. Man, I put some serious hours into MacMAME back in the day, and have been hoping it would appear for iPad. Xevious!

Don't forget handylight!

Edit: oh wait, I think that's from 2010!

Haha I still have and use Handylight. I'm glad it hasn't broken over the different versions of iOS (yet).

EDIT: And just grabbed this even though I'm not necessarily into arcade games. Might as well right?
