I'll help out a little more ;) That version of the rom set is key, folks. Roms from that set will work flawlessly with this version of MAME. Having the matching named rom from that list isn't enough - you need to have the name AND the set number.

To get them on your iPhone/iPod, download iExplorer, which is free, for Mac and PC. Open it with your device tethered via USB. Go into the Apps folder, find iMAME, then open the Documents folder. Drop something in there, then in the App, go to options and click rescan. You can experiment while the app is running, so you can add, scan, delete as much as you'd like.

Have fun, and be responsible ;)

That said, I'm stunned by the ease of use, quality, speed, and price.

Do you drop the .zip files there? I have re-scanned and they are not showing up.

EDIT: And just grabbed this even though I'm not necessarily into arcade games. Might as well right?

I know, right? In before the lock! (By Apple, that is! :) )

Actually, I haven't played games on MAME in years, but it was pretty awesome back when I last really used it on an original Pentium. I'm excited to see it on my phone. I have Dig Dug through Namco's app, and I don't have it, but Crystal Castles is available through Atari's app. I want Mr. Do, Roc N' Rope, and Pack Rat. Oh, and maybe Zookeeper and Robotron 2084. Maybe H.E.R.O. and Super Pac Man (which I like better than Ms. Pac Man, which I have).

Full screen Metal Slug on the iPad! I'm all in!

Just trying to get some others to run. MK II crashes on the iPad1 :(

Seriously - you guys need to learn to read. The first post tells you how to put more ROM's.

----------

Documents folder within iMame.

I've managed to put Metal Slug on but when loading, it comes up with ng-sfix.rom, neo-geo.rom, mslug-c1.rom, c2, c3.roms not found??!!!
Won't load for me!

You need to send over those ROMS too. They are the Neo-Geo ROMS.

Any one have an alternate download site for iexplorer? Seems like the Macroplant site is hosed.

Where would I find them roms??

Yes. If you're downloading in Safari, it might throw the zips in the trash and automatically unstuff them. Take them from the trash and copy them to the documents folder stated. As long as they are from 0.37b5, they'll show up and work. Otherwise, they might not appear. If a Rom reports missing files, you might be from the wrong set, or you might need a "parent" rom. Some MAME roms work by taking files from other roms. For example, one version of galaga might need some files from the original galaga, and so on.

If you're new to roms, it might take some experimenting to learn how the system works with any articular game, but the payoff is a lot of fun ;)

Don't think you'll be able to play Robotron, given the only one stick. While every game from that set works, I've found that I needed to dump plenty, because they are unplayable - some of the driving games that rely on pedals, etc, just don't play right. Small price to pay I suppose. I'm happy to see that Outrun is perfect, and quite nice to play.

They should be in one of those batch torrents for .37b5 ROMS. From my mame experience on the PC you need the neogeo.zip file.

Well I've managed to get Art of Fighting to work, found a neo geo zip but metal slug still not working! thanks for the info though

Yeah I must have the wrong kind because I did all that and re-scanned and they are not showing up.

For the "best ROM site Google pleasuredome - You can get the whole collection in one download.

Whilst I'd also recommend this approach, worth pointing out that the total download you're looking at is just under 50Gb - 41Gb for the latest Mame rom set and another 7Gb for the Mame rollback rom set.

No, don't download the current MAME ROM set. Download the one labeled MAME4ALL on Pleasuredome or .37b5 in other places. That one is less than 2 GB. Mame4all is based on an older version of MAME that can only use much fewer ROMS.

Has anyone gotten the Wiimote to work with the emulator? The jailbroken versions of mame4all have that option but I don't see it here.

I couldn't get it on my iPhone because of the darn 20MB limit, but I called my wife at home and had her download whatever versions are out there (universal?) at home. If it gets pulled today I can at least sync it to iTunes and then sync my phone.

My bad, I hadn't see that one. Have you checked how accurate it is for iMame4all? Looks a little bit light as the last set I built was close to 2Gb.

That probably won't work too well. All of their roms are for the latest version of Mame so a good few of them won't work on iMame4all.

They do with the jailbreak version but it looks like the feature has been pulled from the app store version.

The odd part is it supports the bluetooth from an icade. I wonder what other bluetooth devices it supports? Anyone try a bluetooth keyboard?

CPS2 games don't work let alone 3

Heres a compatibility list:
http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/wiki/GameList

And for those n00bs to MAME: Many rom sets require files from other sets or versions.

Like TMNT needs the world pack AND the US 4plyr pack, NBA Jam TE v2 needs NBA Jam v2 files, NeoGeo Games need the neogeo bios pack. and on and on and on.
can you elaborate on those additional packs - how to get them and how to load them into iMAME in order for the roms to work?
