Hi all,

I'm experiencing the following symptoms more frequently than I'd like:

-Messages not being delivered to my iPhone, but arriving on my Mac Mini

-Messages not being delivered to my Mac Mini, but arriving on my iPhone

-My iPhone receiving group chat messages about 5 minutes after everyone else

-Messages arriving to my iPhone about 5 minutes after they were sent

This is not location-specific.

It is really annoying.

Anyone else having similar problems? I've tried all the usual iMessage off/on sign out/sign in stuff. The only thing I haven't tried is a complete erase and restore from iCloud backup. Before I go through the palaver of doing this, has anyone else has this problem or similar problems that have been fixed with a restore?

If something iffy is going on with iOS will restoring from a backup cure these problems and just reapply my specific settings or does it literally take a copy of the entire OS, warts 'n all?

Thanks :)

hmmm I haven't had any of the issues you experienced. This has actually worked flawlessly for me for a while.

I actually have NOT been experiencing these issues, iMessage works great for me.

Are all your devices fully updated to the latest versions of their respective software?

hi

here is what i am experiencing: since updating to both iOS8.3 and OS X 10.3 iMessages are delayed by a few seconds (maybe up to 10 seconds) to the device that i am not actively using. but all iMessages are being received. also, enabling handoff, SMS are also being well received on my mac as well.

here is what helps: use the same apple ID for all your devices. for example, using name@icloud.com on all your devices instead of name@icloud.com and name@mac.com on others has been reported to ensure that messages are received on all devices.

thanks

I'm someone who rarely has issues with anything but I HAVE noticed that iMessages are really slow for me. I'll send a message and people don't get them or get them way after I sent them and vice versa. I know this from talking to the person before I get the message they want to talk about or I just get a message and it was about something for the day before. Not too happy with iMessage. Don't know what the issue is. Happens at home and away.

I always had trouble syncing iMessages with my Mac... Sometimes it will work flawlessly. Other times, newer iMessages will not show up on Mac or iPhone. And iMessages often have trouble sending. So I use iMessages only on my iPhone.

No issues here on 4S/iPad mini retina/ipod touch 5th gen, sorry to hear of your frustration.

No issues here either. MacBook Pro retina, iPad mini retina & iPhone 5S. All with latest update.

This. My wife sent me a text via iMessage while in a store (I was waiting outside) and then 5 min later she called me asking me why I haven't responded. I asked, "Responded to what?" She replied, "The text I sent you." Never received it until she got back into the car, 5 min later. She sees me receiving the text she had sent and says, "Oh there it is!"
She then says, "What's wrong with the messages, this has happened to me before?"

NOTE: She had made sure she had reception onside the store while sending the text, plus she was connected to WiFi. So no excuse for no reception.

Did she look at her messages while in the store to see if it still said sending at the top, or did not say delivered below the message? she could have been connected to a stores wifi but had not gone in and "accepted" there terms to actually connect. So the message sat on her phone waiting to send to you till she walked out of the store and off there wifi.

She looked & it said delivered while in the store. She always checks her connection on WiFi; accepting terms and conditions, etc.

As a side note, we've been out with good reception and she has sent a text, said it was delivered, and the person receiving it never even received the message (Im talking about several hours pass).

You sure the recipient does not have you blocked? It's easy to inadvertently do.

On my Mac it's been horrible for over a year now. Whenever there's a lull in a conversation my Mac stops receiving the messages for a few minutes. They come to my phone instantly and will send from my Mac, but for a few minutes the incoming messages won't show up.

Ever since iOS 8 my wife and I have had trouble with iMessages. I occasionally won't receive her messages and vice versa (a few a week). She also uses an iPad and they seem to show up on there 100% of the time, but that does no good when it's sitting at home. They show as delivered right away from the sending phone but never arrive on the receiving phone. I should note, it's not just iMessages between us. iMessages in general seem to never arrive occasionally, I can just track the ones between us easier.

I've tried everything on the books except for setup from new instead of backup. That's probably what I'll end up doing, I just need to invest in the time it will take.

Please switch to WhatsApp. Much more reliable and so much better as well.bonus is it works cross platform.

Never switch to WhatsApp it is a very overrated messaging app. Updates come always very very late. But no I never had so few problems with iMessage it works better then ever. iPhone is always in sync with Mac.
