I am having the same problem with my version of iMovie. I see it seems to happen with several. Up to 2 days ago, I was uploading video after video on youtube no problem. And then suddenly, yesterday, I go through the whole process and it tells me all is fine as usual, except that instead of a usual new youtube url for my video, I get a url that goes to my channel. I tried again several times and then tried with a brand new video and the same happened.
I have no quotation marks whatsoever in any part of the movie title or tags or anything.
Anybody can help? Please?
thanks a lot

I had the same problem but seem to have sorted it out by not adding any tags or description to the initial vid. I leave it as private as well then change everything later when it has uploaded. It drove me up the wall but seems OK now.

Solution

Had this issue...in my description I had

git checkout <filename>

I took out the <> and it worked.

Take out any special characters from your tags, descriptions, title...then add them back in after it's on youtube.

I know it doesn't like " and <> in some cases.

good luck

Imovie 11 not uploading to YouTube

so i too, have this issue with imovie 11, i never had this issue before, the weird thing is that now FCX is doing the same thing, it goes thru the process and it says uploading but nothing gets uploaded, i have to export the movie out to the desktop then upload it manually, at this point i think is youtube not Imovie or FCX.

I have found uploading videos from iMovie imperfect at best. My workflow is to edit in iMove and export as Full Quality to your HD or scratch disk. Then open in QuickTime 7 or X and process the movie in QuickTime and save to disk again. Open Youtube, select upload video and select you movie file. Much faster upload times for me.

imovie youtube solution from Apple Advisor

Called them because none of your ideas worked, he read back what you guys were saying, I told him I already checked the forums and tried all that. His initial solution was to go to youtube and upload, I said but what is the issue here because iMovie should work like you all were saying.

So this is how we fixed it:
1. Open finder, go to house icon on left on finder window
2. Open Library folder, drag entire "caches" folder to trash
3. Back to house icon on left in finder window this time open library then preferences, delete com.apple.imovieApp.plist

Restart - then retry - worked for me. He said I must have had a corrupted imovie file....seems odd that lots of us are having this issue. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot!! Lost a day on this and back in the air!

Great Tip that works straight away. All problems solved in one go. Thanks!!

Here's what to do, I've just tested this and it solves it. DO NOT type quote marks in your tags in iMovies you tube export window. They fail to be recognised by you tube and it rejects the video. To be on the safe side, input your tags in the editing page on you tube. I've tested this today and every video with quote marks in the tags fails. Take quote marks out and they show straight away in you tube. Let me know how you get on :)

Hey - Even if you dont have quotes in your description or tags. LEAVE BLANK!
I put the tittle as one letter , left everything else blank. And IT WORKED!
So ya go forth and enjoyeth the iMovie! :)

Wow that's good to know. I always put quotes in the tags. It's a habit from Flickr I guess. Glad I know how to make it work now.

I was also having issues uploading from iMovie but I found this post and I removed the quotation marks from my tags and everything worked!

So I created an account here just to say THANK YOU!!!! I really appreciate it....I was pulling my hair out for a minute there just trying to figure this thing out.

Thank you!

Brilliant! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I too was tearing my hair out with this problem. I deleted all punctuation from the title, description, tags etc and it's now on youtube.

Great help, thanks.

wow this is one old thread but folks seem to bring it back every other year or so.(found it with google)

I just wanted to see if anything is different with iMove 10?
What everybody calls iMove 11 (do they still even do iLife?)is really iMove 9 It's kind of a confusing

I found this on the Apple site it may be useful I haven't tried it yet.

no that had nothing to do with it...mine didnt have quotes. although i do hear my laptop is working overload with the fan blowing, so i assume its uploading. theres just no status bar telling me how far along it is??
