interesting thread, just got done reading top to bottom. two things i'd add;

....

2. after reading "Chuck - chuck (pause) wakka-wakka-wakka-wakka-br-r-r-r-r-r-t" i've decided to print that on a shirt, make a drive 'top' for a hat, and stick a molex cable in one back pocket and a data cable in the other back pocket and go as a 'Hard Drive' next halloween. epic! :D

deal and done. :)

you can add 'Costume Footnote' to your list of accomplishments or resume...

as a side note, i've been having fun since the last post trying to figure out how to write down some of the crazy noises my kids make. not as easy as it sounds. great job on the drive noise, it was spot on!

Okay, thanks for all your help guys.

One last question before I make up my mind. Can I purchase a cheap pre-loaded SCSI hard drive off eBay or somewhere? What's my best, cheapest option? I just don't have the time or knowledge to go back and forth making my own, so maybe I'll buy a pre-made one if possible.

Could anybody link me?

EDIT: Will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-App...mputing_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e7dded1ed

Thanks,

7.5.3 is a go with the Color Classic. That drive should go right in.

Ordered. :)

When it comes in, I'm gonna play around with it for a bit. Any suggestions on what to do? Games, apps, etc.

Last question. If I ever get bored with this as it's an older machine, what's your suggestion? How much would it sell for with a keyboard and mouse?

Cheers.

As for what to do? .. Got Ethernet? Fool around with iCab. (blech)

Shufflepuck Cafe, 3 in Three.. Classic Mac games.

Apple //e card? Play some -really- classic games.

Selling value? Total voodoo. Condition, accessories, planet alignment, boxes, manuals, paperwork, direction of the wind.. There's just lots of variables.

The drive arrived.

I installed it, put it all back together, plugged it in, and started it up.

Welcome to Macintosh.

Hooray! It worked. I've now got Classic 7.5.3 running perfectly, playing a little Jigsaw Puzzles.

Thanks for all your help. I really needed it and couldn't have done it without this forum.

Now to figure out how to get some games and apps on this...

Final regards,

~Nick

While you have a functioning system, if you have network connectivity get the floppy images for the OS and write them to floppy disks (the images files will be readable with DiskCopy on your mac) If you dont have external connectivity you would need a Zip Drive, or and external SCSI drive to act as a go-between (the Classic should have the PC compatibility disk extension loaded)
