Regarding FW on netbsd, I tested a FW400 Harddrive, formatted with OSX hfs+, maybe it Thuner-Volman is missing, but its not in the repo.
check the code:

I could not locate the FW drive on my desktop . . . when I tried to mount the drive the "bad Superblock" appears. under OSX the drive is recognized.
I’m sorry but you’re in territory that I haven’t covered yet. I am fortunate to have working CD drives. Maybe ask in the NetBSD IRC channel.
Perhaps installing in QEMU PPC and dd'ing the image to a physical disk with an IDE to USB adapter?Well, if someone comes up with a reproducible procedure to install NetBSD without relying on an internal DVD-drive, I am interested.

@barracuda156 if I understand you correctly you want to install netBSD without a CD/DVD Drive? I did install netBSD with dd‘ing the image to an USB Stick, booting from it and installing it from there with some quirks, but at the end successful.
What I ended up doing for my NetBSD install was dropping the installation kernel to an HFS volume and telling OF to boot it with a USB plugged in (but not booting from it). NetBSD should pick the USB up as an installation source and you can proceed.
It's the same concept as with OpenBSD.
From the tutorial, did you includetried installing netBSD on a DLSD powerbook G4 with all the steps outlined, and set the boot variables and everything. however, the screen spazzes out like crazy and i can't really get anywhere further than that. it'll boot and everything, but netBSD just won't load correctly. do i need to set some display settings somewhere so it wont glitch out on me?

after install. and yes i typed everything correctly.Follow up question @alectrona6400. Was that booting from the CD or after install?
