In grade school, in public school they had pcs. But at the private middle school they had macs.

In grade school did you have macs or pcs?

We had paper, pencil, and if the worst happened, the blackboard.

We had nothing because my school was run by idiots who thought sports were more important than computers.

Hence why almost all of my graduating class (I graduated in 2000) are completely computer illiterate.

We didn't even get a computer lab until 1999.

I had a slide rule but iJohnHenry tells me that they had an abacus and they had to share.

KGB:rolleyes:

We had calculators, kind of. We had to buy them unless you were in the advanced math class then you could borrow one from the school.

Sadly we also had teachers who instead of answering questions and doing there jobs of explaining math simply told students to "punch it in to the calculator".

I'll stop now, I sense bitterness resurfacing :p

we have dell optiplex 755s. starting to feel really slow, only 3 years down the line...

I had macbooks in grade school that were kept there. Now through the technology initiative at my school district all 8th graders get macbooks to keep for the year. They are the ones from 2009, so I still prefer to use my MBA for everything other than school work.

We didn't have any computers during my grade school years. I remember a few old Macs during high school though. Now a days the kids have access to Macs.

In middle school we had Commodore 64s and old IBM Personal Computers. Mind you this was actually in the mid-nineties. The school just couldn't afford anything newer.

My first three high schools* had PCs. My final high school had Macs in most classrooms, though the typing class still used PCs.

*My family moved around a lot during that time.

none ... computers were not even in people's homes when I went to school ... not even calculators were allowed at school

PC's in Primary, PC's in High school - excluding the 50 or so the Music Dept have. There may be one or two lurking somewhere in Drama too.

Computers, specially personal computers did not exist when I was in grade school. :p

The closes thing is that my high school started getting Commodore Pets when I was a senior.

Same here, all my match had to be done the old fashioned way - on paper showing my work :)

Through the 80's i used an apple IIe in grade school

This almost fits for me as well... except it applies to me in high school instead of grade school. We had some apple IIe's in the computer class I took, and there were no other computers in the school.. at least not able to be used by students.

Only saw PC's in school until High School. The computer lab and library there had those really slow iMacs that came in various colors.

I started grade school in 1958 and finished high school in 1971. We used pencils, paper and later sliderules. They were made from wood.
Exactly the same as as me. There were no personal computers until after college, and then only for hobbyists.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S)

When I was in grade school, we had pencil, paper and Elmer's Glue. :p
