True enough...I really like the updates that iOS 11 brought to the iPad.

Aside from the colour and capacity, lol, I agree with the OP based on what I've read and experienced today. Mine will be going in an official black leather case (standard, not folio) so colour is moot really aside from I prefer the bit you see at the bottom of the phone to blend in rather than stick out, so SG it is. As for capacity, I have 35GB spare on my 64GB SE right now, and could clear up a further 10GB with no appreciable loss as it's just music from Google Play downloaded and photos I haven't bothered deleting after they uploaded to Google Photos. Why don't I have an Android if I have so much Google stuff? No need - I had an iPad first, Google supports Apple, Apple supports Google, and I just prefer the iOS interface and harmony between hardware and software.
PS I love the notch - it uniquely identifies it as an iPhone. Embrace it until all phones become rectangular slabs of glass with nothing particularly special about their external aesthetic!

I went to the Apple store to play with the X, and while I do not like the notch it’s not as bad and distracting as I originally thought. After a minute I didn’t pay much attention to it, even when watching videos in full screen landscape. I think I can tolerate it when the X Plus rolls around.
Couldn't they have just made the "ears" black in the OS so there is no notch? With oled tech the black would be actually black. It doesn't bother me really, but that area only displays time/wifi/etc...

the apps that haven't updated to integrate the notch annoy me. i love the apps that utilize the full screen and go into the notch!

Just create a background with the top black so that when you are in the home screen, you at least get the effect you are after. It'll look odd though with a larger black area at the top compared to the bottom.

So you don't like the notch on your X? You aren't finding it less distracting with time?
Now developers need to step up their game and actually get their apps to work properly on the X. Waiting on you, Google Maps!

The Notch isn’t as invasive as I anticipated. You actually don’t really notice it in regular usage.

Why wouldn't it be ok? I would only suggest that it is impossible to accurately assess the notch until you use the phone for a while. I did not like it before I had it, but in practice, it has become a total non-issue. I think they could deal with it better, but it isn't distracting. The Home Bar is more distracting in photos, videos, etc.
Yea like all those rectangular devices know as TV's. Maybe apple will put a notch on the left side of the screen if they ever make a stand along television. 🙄

Agree 100%. Was watching trailers on the Trailers app last night and the Notch was a non-issue.
maybe a non issue but seriously it would be better without the notch, for a grand one should expect the best.... how's the notch make it better?

It tucks information into an area that would otherwise be nothing. Without it, there would be a line of info across the top of the screen that now is able to be used by apps. The notch is good. Now, I would like to see it be black, but I am all in favor of removing the persistent info from the main screen to the ears and give all of the main screen to apps.
Not likely as I pay zero attention to Android phones, and would not know - or care - if they had a notch or not. 😉

What Cashmonee said...it was either the Notch so we could have the wonderful & amazing FaceID and TrueDepth camera, or a solid black line with no purpose.
