They said that but in reality from what I am hearing, the conversion of their LTE will take some time. There is no magical switch that that turns on LTE to all T-mobile customers from Metro's existing LTE.
i found this article interesting.

T-mobile is pulling a AT&T, their HSPA+ 1900MHz is now labeled "4G" so all iPhone owners can feel they are accessing tmobile fastest network...

Only people who will have access to 1700 AWS on iPhone are the ones that will be using the tweaked iPhone 5, everyone else will only get "4G" in the limited areas around major cities and towns while being in the 1900MHz areas!

Pre-Tweaked iPhone 5 (All models) = 4G (1900Mhz areas only) and 2G everywhere else, (LTE on A1428 models only)

Tweaked iPhone 5 = 4G (1900 and AWS 1700 everywhere), 2G everywhere else and LTE

Btw, it is not 1900Mhz that is shown as 4G but HSPA+. T-mobile has HSPA+21 and HSPA+42 deployed in many areas.

Actually T-Mobile started this trend back in 2010. AT&T initially protested, but eventually joined the bandwagon.

Yes DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps can qualify for "4G" but HSPA+ 21mbps is simply 3G (or if you want to get really technical its 3.5G) just rebranded...

If you read my reply properly you would have realized that All iPhones prior to the "tweaked T-Mobile iPhone 5" cannot access the 1700 AWS AKA DC-HSPA+42 that you are referring to HSPA+42..................

So yes T-Mobile is rebranding the 1900MHz "3G" HSPA+ 21Mbps Network as "4G" by simply doing what AT&T did with its "3G" network on the iPhone 4S and onwards.

T-Mobile currently owns:
- 1900MHz 3G (now 4G) HSPA+21 - Limited to Major Cities & Towns (Which they started launching in the past 1.5-2years to support iPhone and other Unlocked 850/1900 frequency based Smartphones)
- 1700/2100 AWS 4G DC-HSPA+42 - Makes up Majority of their coverage (Which was upgraded in the past 5-6 years from 21Mbps to 42)
- 1700/2100 AWS LTE (Very Limited markets at the moment)

So because I have a A1428 unlocked phone, I'll get LTE once deployed? and then 4G and EDGE everywhere else?

Yes, you will get LTE when available and will get HSPA on PCS (all the areas that have been refarmed). Everywhere else you will get edge.

So should I be worried I still get a 3G icon when at my girlfriends house? But a 4G icon when I'm at my house?

See here's what worries me...if you go here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5720

I only meet the first of the two criteria. My serial doesn't end in any of those combinations, and my box only reads 1900/2100, not 1700/2100 like that apple site says.

That is because the updated iPhone with support for AWS doesn't come out until Friday. All the areas on T-mobile that haven't been re-farmed to 1900Mhz use AWS.

So I'm good to go then?

Cause I have an upgrade available with T-Mobile so I could get a T-Mobile iPhone 5 for only $100 and could sell the 5 I have now on CL.
