I'm also interested in what fellow NYC'ers have to say about lines in the city. Do I need to go line up at midnight in order to get the basic 16gb with wifi? Never lined up for a product before but would really like to get on launch day!

Just order it online. I avoided the lines last year doing it that way. I just walked in and picked up my tablet.

Who cares. Its the same product that does the same things a little faster. Yes it looks nice but why buy one if you have a working ipad already.

You clearly cared enough to post. The iProducts are about the only thing I splurge on these days partly because its what I do.

I go into work at 9:30am on Friday. I will be in line at my local Best Buy at 7am since they're opening at 8. :D

If I can do a in store pickup, I might. The commuter traffic slows down around 9:30-10 so if I leave at 10, I should be fine. I just have to figure which store to buy from. The stand alone or the one in a mall?

For past product launches, getting there in the morning around 7am has worked.

If there is an in-store pickup option, definitely do that. If not, go early in the morning, but no need to stand overnight.

Do you think 7 is early enough? I was thinking six....

7 will probably be early enough. I'm still not sure what I will do myself. I'd probably get up around 6, go there, check line, maybe swing by Starbucks if no line. Or I'd try to do a buy online pick up at Apple store. Best Buy is a bit more convenient for me though.

I will order online at 3:01am Friday Nov 1st

Friday, I will walk into the Apple store of my choice, stress free without worry.

(I will though, probably bump into furniture as I hadn't slept, but hey!)

Or you could be a jerk :) which you are.

Those lines in my post were tongue-in-cheek, serving to emphasize my points in the rest of my post (which you didn't quote for context).

I'm going to assume you had a bad day or something and didn't get the humor.

BTW, you might want to reread the FAQ/Rules (link near top of the page):

Instantly Bannable Offenses
These offenses can result in temporary forum suspensions or permanent bans. If you get a warning, heed it!

1. Insults. Direct personal insult of another forum member (e.g., "You are an idiot.") and other name-calling. Why? Because this isn't grade school.

I asked my dog and he wagged his tail, so it seems it's confirmed.

Or I could say my brother's girlfriend's aunt's neighbor's son is an Apple employee and confirmed you could.

Either way means nothing until you see an official announcement from Apple (which would be plastered across this forum) or online ordering opens up and you see the option listed. :D

Could Apple do it? Sure. IMHO it's highly improbable unless there are NO supply constraints whatsoever.

You might want to check the app store. It clearly states there will be in store pickup starting 11/1.

I think so. I'm pretty sure most people around here aren't going to upgrade from a 3 or a 4 to the iPad Air. Even if I'm too late I'm sure Apple will have them all day or the next.

I guess you're right. Swing by around 6 is be a good idea. I really hope there's no line though, that would be awesome.
