Talking of the facial hair variety of course :p

I'm growing one right now, but I have about 0 clue as to if it will look good or not, so what kind of features makes a beard look good? What kind of clothes should I wear to accentuate my newest arrival?

What makes a beard look good? Short, neatly trimmed and without the remnants of lunch within it.

I think it depends on the man, also. Beards are a weird thing. They mask a lot of your facial features, they mask your emotional expression.

I guess if you're plain ugly, they conceal a lot of things, and, assuming you have good beard growth (according to the dimensions BV mentioned), they give you an air of mystery which can be appealing.

I personally don't understand why attractive men with expressive faces wear beards... because I think it does nothing much good for them in most cases.

I grew my gottee about 3 years ago. It comes down to the person some people look good with facial hair others do not. I have a few friends who just could not pull of the look because it grew in to thin and spotty or the color was off.

For me I just keep it trimmed, and everywhere I do not want facial hair shaved.

What you grow in and if it will look good all depends on your face shape and how well you grow it in. I for example can not grow a full beard. Not only is my face not shaped correctly for it but it grows in patchy on the cheeks

I grew my beard partly to conceal a double chin. Now I've lost some weight so I don't really have the two chins any more, but I like the beard so I've kept it. As others say, trimming helps a lot. Plus you really need to shave around the edges to make it look sharp (but you don't have to shave every day!).

The only way to really tell is if you grow it out and experiment. I think that if you have a slender and long face, a beard would be a bad idea, as it would make your face look fatter than it needs to. If you have a somewhat round face, a beard is a good idea (again, along BV's lines-short and well kept) because it will help add some dimension to your face. Just a thought though.

When you've been traveling for a week, are wearing a bandanna that hasn't been washed in anything resembling clean water for two days (and you've used it as a washcloth since then), and have just hiked through a rainstorm... a beard looks good.
