I never wear shoes unless I must.
Although, I do sometimes wear my Rainbows or Reefs to school (i take them off when i get into each class) Or my Diesels for casual times.
Get home, and my flip flops are already in my bag so i don't take anything off. :p

Anything goes at my house so long as your shoes aren't muddy or something.

I always feel uncomfortable when people ask me to take off my shoes in their house.

No shoes at home. Don't really know anyone who wears shoes inside. Besides, the dogs do enough "damage" to the carpets, shoes inside would make the matters even worse.

Hausschuhe all the way. Except maybe in summer when barefoot is nice. Although it's summer now in Germany and it rained for the first 4 weeks while I was here and had to put on a sweater.

At home, it's mostly barefoot or socks. Floors get dirty whether you wear shoes in the house or not, dust, cat, hairs, whatever. I may go barefoot in my room where I know it's clean, but I hardly venture into a bathroom or kitchen without house shoes.

My favs are LL Bean ones. I gotta get a friend to bring me a pair cause they're expensive here, good ones anyway...

Slippers in my flat and no shoes in my friends flat. I respect her attitude as she's got a cat and wantseveryone to leaver their shoes at the entry.

Fair enough so I always bring along my sloppy slippers :D

Depends on the weather too. If it's rainy and muddy outside I ask my visitors to pull off their shoes. Cleaning all the dirt from outside can be a pain in... and seeing your carpet being dirty isn't a nice feeling.

No shoes....I have a bad habit of taking them off at other peoples homes, and they say "No leave them on".

It sort of bothers me.

Why would you want to wear outside shoes inside your home?

All kinds of dirt and such are on your shoes. Bringing this into your home. No thank you.

Yea I always wondered that too. You step on all sorts of stuff outside, why would you want to step into your home with those shoes? For the minor convinience of time it takes to put it on and off?

That's why people have slippers or house shoes. It's not about taking them on and off for me. And there's stuff in the house I don't want to track on my feet, hence house shoes. :)

No shoes inside, please

I have a no shoes rule in my home. After living in Ny, I think that wearing shoes inside is gross! Plus, I like taking my shoes off after a long day! I find that even if I mop once a week and sweep regularly my feet and socks still get dirty! So I created a foot pad that sticks to the bottom of your foot or sock, Footums.

No rules around here, most people keep their shoes on when they visit. Maybe it's just a south Texas thing; unless your shoes are muddy, they stay on wherever you go.

when i go over to someone's i take my shoes off regardless of their rule because i don't like to track in dirt into a house than isn't mine. when i get back to my own house, i use a pair of moccasins style slippers reserved for in-house use only.

I never wear shoes (or socks for that matter) in the house, entirely for reasons of comfort. In fact, I strongly associate footwear with going out.

In regards to other people, they can just do what they want. Most people just take off their shoes, though. I assumed it was for reasons of comfort too, but this thread has actually kind of blown me away; it never occurred to me that some people were taking their shoes off to avoid bringing dirt into the house.

I honestly have never connected wearing shoes inside to the concept of cleanliness. I mean, I didn't realize it was even a concern to people.
