The problem is that spreading those videos gives people the idea/justification that the bake method is a legitimate fix for these issues, and crappy repair businesses use that. And it tears down the entire reputation of the repair bizz, including the certified, actual good ones, like Louis Rossmann.

This matters a great deal, given Apple has been trying to kill Right to Repair bills by skewing the perception on people like Louis, by showing these crappy repair places and the "fixes" they do. Apple's billion dollar lawyers essentially use it to give a misleading view to the lawmakers in the US, and it basically gives Apple the freedom to screw everyone over.

So yeah, that's why I, and others, will always vehemently discredit the bake "fix" each and everytime it's posted somewhere we notice.

Did you do everything you could to make sure the GPU wouldn't overheat again, like thermal pads (if possible), controlling the fan speed, etc.?

I never claimed it was reliable, and I never defended it.
nope. I did install smcfancontrol for the brief time it was working. I'm just saying it's not a good idea to buy one.

Thank you, a thousand times over, for cluing me in on something I wasn't previously aware of. I think a lot of people here could learn from you.

Another issue is how it can be used by an unsuspecting / unscrupulous seller to pawn off a laptop with a temporary "fix".
