That's good to know. I've been reading some reviews here and on Amazon on the Commuter which mention sharp edges, hard-to-push power button, poor fit, etc., and getting a bit worried about the one I have on order. Meantime, I'm really liking my DualPro, so much so that I considered cancelling the Commuter. I'll keep my order and see how I like it compared to the DualPro.

Had the Commuter for my 4s and it was the greatest case ever...but all of what you heard is true about the Otterbox Commuter for the iPhone 5, and all are why I've bought & returned two of them...the second one bought because I thought the first might have been a fluke. Nope. Although I have to give credit for the stiffer rubber inner layer gripping the phone better & more tightly...sharp edges & corners around the openings for the charging plug & speaker/microphone were very uncomfortable. That and the fact of the terribly hard-to-press power & volume buttons made it intolerable for me.

After using the Speck Candyshell & Candyshell Satin cases, I got the Incipio DualPro case today at my boss' recommendation...and so far, I really like it over the Otterbox Commuter by a mile...

the only downfall of the dual pro is there are no port coverings. This means dirt, lint, dust and whatever else can get into the charging port, mirophone, headphone etc.

If the OBC for the IP5 has a 'stiffer' rubber compound, I can't imagine how bad it was for the 4. On the 5, the rubber case absolutely does not hold it's shape. What's even worse is that the plastic grips the rubber case tightly; the rubber then juts out like a blob of adipose tissue. Imagine someone wearing a pair of pants 10" too small?

Yeah, that's right, muffin top action on the IP5. The OB cases are an embarrassment to any thoughtful designer.

Also, the acase superleggera has a very similar design, and can often be purchased for as little as $4 to 6 dollars. I haven't tried using this case yet, but the plastic outer player only has one cutout, at the bottom, avoiding the bizarre design flaw of the OBC, which has cutout aplenty.

Clearly, Otterbox has sold gazillions of cases based on their ability to protect a device from normal abuse...not their aesthetic qualities. I had the OBC on three of my last iPhones, and outside of a tiny bit of extra bulk, was pretty happy.

I will agree that the rubber on the older models did stretch and start looking bad after a while...and I noticed the iPhone 5 model featured a much stiffer compound.

I went for the Incipio case because it looked like it was basically a fashion-model version of the OBC.

However...after my using the Incipio case for the last week or so, I can agree with an earlier poster that complained about it being a pocket-lint magnet! That and it's rubber being too flimsy gives a feeling of being "loose" similar to a traditional silicon case, which I've always hated.

That said...I just bought another OB Commuter case on eBay this past Sunday. I'm gonna give it another shot. :D

Guess I'm just a case-flake.

had both and the commuter went back and I kept the dual pro. Felt that it was built better and felt better in the hand. Even though I loved the commuter for my iPhone 4s I did not like it for the iPhone 5, not sure why there was a difference

I think the commuter is better than the dual pro. The dual pro just has too much stuff going on on top of the screen.

The OBC didn't seem like it added much to the bulk or thickness of the already bricky (is that a word?) iPhone 4S...but it seems to totally add to it on the svelte & slender iPhone 5.

Wrangler Case

I purchased the Wrangler case from ivyskin and I really like that case. I had otterbox on my iphone 4 but it was too bulky. I was looking for the same level of protection as my otterbox and came accross the Wrangler case. This case comes with glass touch screen rather than the plastic compared to otterbox or incipio also has the optional battery which is cool.

Could be that was the problem, I know that there is a difference in the 2 of them and I did not like the OBC for the iPhone 5.

I've got the Incipio DualPro and love it! I've had it since about a month after the iPhone 5 launch day. I had a bumper on for the first week or two while also trying the Otterbox Commuter and Defender. The DualPro was thinner and more to my liking. I really love how the outer cover of the DualPro almost has a leathery feel to it.

My initial concern with the DualPro was the top and bottom of the silicone part not holding it's form. But to my surprise it has held up nicely. There is the fact that lint catches on the silicone, but there's going to be lint and I'd rather that than add the bulk of a case.

I used the Zagg HD screen cover that I initially bought with the phone rather than the one that came with the DualPro.

Weird deal...but I just got another Otterbox Commuter from Best Buy last night, and it feels different. Seems the same...but it went on a lot easier, the rubber seems harder in texture, and it fits a lot better w/o a bunch of pulling & pushing to seat the rubber edges like before. I dunno...maybe I just got a " good" one.

I like it again.

But, I have one of the new Mophie Hydrogen battery cases coming...so this might get returned soon.

Gotta love Best Buy!

The Dualpro collected too much dust and lint for me as the interior is pure silicone. It did fit fine and worked ok.

The two commuters I had both had fitment issues. On one the silicone was almost like a hard plastic (not the frame portion) and was way too stiff. The phone wouldn't lock into it. The other one was a little looser but the plastic frame that went around it would always have a sharp piece of plastic poking out at the bottom. I also hated the port covers. Never closed right for me.

I used the Candyshell Grip for a while but switched to the Otterbox Reflex a few weeks back. I really like it. No plastic actually touches the phone (the rubber does) and it works with my glass screen protector. It is a little loose but it doesn't come apart so I'm not worried. I have dropped it and no issues. Protected the phone and the case looks like new.

Both have pros and cons..

I currently have both cases in hand. Incipio really collects alot of dust and lint as it is pure silicone, and the silicone inner case would stretched over time. However, i think that the incipio does do a okay job in protecting my phone.

For the otterbox, its my first time buying it. The sleep wake button is extremely hard to press. I had to put a cupboard inside just to make it easier to press. The casing does not fit properly, and i think the casing is kind of poorly made as it still has sharp edges around the outer shell and the inner silicon is kind of flimsy. I do not like the cutout apple logo as i want my phone to be fully protected. Well, one good thing about otterbox is that it really protects your phone. Other than that, i prefer incipio.

how come there isnt more on this case on this site, that case seems like a great deal especially for 59.99.

for those that have the commuter....does the lightning port door sit flush with the case or does it seem to bulge out just a bit?

I have the commuter but the lightning port door seems to not close as tight as the headphone door.

Just a little. Doesn't bother me at all.

You have to really be OCD if you think it's an issue lol.
