I was looking at that case too. Do you have any issues with the zippers? I was worried that zipper style sleeves would scratch the MBA or would be too weak and break off like the hard candy sleeve. I opted for a simple speck case instead, this http://www.amazon.com/Speck-Products-Form-Fitting-13-Inch-SPK-A0227/dp/B004LWN3R0/ref=sr_1_15?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313274579&sr=1-15 I hope it does the job. Does anyone have this case? Would like to hear from those who have it.

I have no issues with the Zipper, inside the sleeve there is a lip that proects the edge from the zipper, and as you zip the product shut the lip closes, and the lip is made of the same Low Resistance Polyurethane material :)

I have the incipio feather in red for my 13 in macbook air. Although all the ports are clear, the corner of the casing obstructs the magsafe adapter from completely attaching to the power adapter port when attaching with end of the power cord facing towards you. u can attached it the other way but you will block the usb port on that side which is defeated in most instances. So it will still charge, but is barely attached by the magnetic force and comes loose quite easily. Also, in this color, the apple logo does not shine through. Third issue, when opening the air with this case on, there is a little rubbing between the two pieces of the shells where the exhaust fans is located, and there seems to be a snapping sound as if the case is flexed really quick and popping back into place. This might be a quality control issue or design error, who knows. ButOther than these 3 issues, this hard shell case for the air looks and feels awesome! I got it for 40 bucks on amazon, and none of the above mentioned issues are necessarily deal breakers for me, so i'll be keeping this case so long as it holds up. gl.

Sounds like you need to buy a file and get sanding!

I got my Speck satin case yesterday and am very happy with the fit, feel, and look. No, it's not as pretty as a naked MBA but it is protected. :D. And it doesn't get any thinner than that (well, maybe a silicone skin, but I'm liking the protection the Speck gives).

True,

As much as i loved my Speck see thru satin hardshell case to protect my previous aluminum unibody MacBook, unless you plan on taking it off frequently to clean the debris that gets trapped between the case and your MacBook, stay away from these. Simple things like dirt, dust particles, or any type of hard food particle that gets trapped can easily leave scuffs or small/hairline scratches over time if not dealt with in a timely manner. I would lean more towards cases/sleeves like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Be-ez-robe-13...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313271010&sr=1-1

These sleeves are made of a low resistance polyurethane and protect from falls by absorbing the impact and making it quick and easy acess to clean from dirt and other particles, and you can even add a zagg invisible shield for more protection. I love my La Robe air <3

Just going to throw in another "+1" for this sleeve. I've done it in countless threads already, and will continue to do so because I want people to know that this sleeve is awesome. ;)

I have the same case (love it) but I think you have the part that goes on the screen upside down. The "Speck" writing on mine is right side up with the apple logo (it's the same with the pictures on Speck's website). Protection-wise it's moot, but just an FYI.

Poor experience of Speck Case

Hi,

I've got one of the new MBAs (2011) and I brought the Speck see-thru satin case (kinda charcoal colour) 6 weeks ago. At first I loved the case, much like many on here. However, over time I realised the bottom piece didn't fit that great and shattered slightly near the screen hinge. Then, last week, the corner at the front left broke off. Very, very disappointed.

I've emailed Speck and they said they will replace - as long as I post back to them in the US at my own expense. Not happy. 6 weeks, guys. 6. Weeks. :(

I take great care of my MBA and I tell you, I won't buy Speck again.

Hope this helps,

T.

I have the Speck Charcoal case and really like it for protecting the MBA when I throw it in my backpack or bookbag. The weak point of this case is the rear hinge/tabs on the lower unit, mine started separating at the base, but I put some superglue on them and they are just like new. Speck should reinforce these rear hinges. Otherwise it fits well, and makes the mBA look stealthy. Also note, if you're running apps that make your Air heat up, one of the perforated cases may be better for bottom ventilation.

is the cracking problem that bad? I prefer the satin look of the speck but I'll be bringing my air with me everyday to University and I'd prefer it if it wouldn't crack...:trolleys:

has anyone put the speck through its paces without it cracking?

your top cover is on wrong...

Macbook Air means to run naked

I brought the Incipio Feather case from Amazon and returned it.

Yes it looks great, feels great. However it partially blocks not only the MegSafe port but also the Thunderbolt port. It get very annoying when I try to work with external monitor. Besides the screen part of the case is kind of heavy, voluntarily changes screen inclination every now and then.

And did I mention it is impossible to take off. When I decided to return it, it took me 20min to remove the case without damaging the Macbook Air. After removing it, the Macbook Air feels so thin and feather light. I am glad I made that decision.

I have always gone with Speck for all of my Macbooks (white/Pro) and unfortunately invested in a Speck shell for my MBA 2011.

What a waste of money.

VERY poor quality control of late...The bottom portion of the case I purchased does not even fit. If I were to leave it on my MBA, it would scratch the back near the hinge. I removed immediately.

The unacceptable response I got from Speck was to send it back at MY expense (even though it is a known defect) and they will replace.

The case is still sitting on a table in my office...

Junk!

Heh, it looks like armor for the little Air. Cute. That's all. I have nothing actually meaningful to contribute.

I also have the incipio case in black for my 2010 mba. It's pretty sleek and I like the feel it has. Snaps on pretty nice and doesn't really add any extra bulk. I don't have any issues with the magsafe as I can plug it either way, so that the usb port isn't hindered. The only downside is what turbotoes said, was the lil piece of case bit on the right hand side where the mini display port and usb is. There's a tad bit of extra plastic that blocks thumb drives, but plugging a regular usb drive fits fine. Another downside is that I use an external monitor and some of the case hinders the display port. You can still plug it in, but a part of the edge (plug) sticks out due to the case. Even with the clearance issue it still works for me.

Seriously I see more people complaining about those hard cases causing scratches than people who get scratches from other things :-D

I would not use something like that actually...

I would have to agree with you now. I have bought my last Speck case. Thank God I noticed the defect before it did some damage.

I got the Incipio Feather. Speck Matte seems to break more often. If I ever use the Thunderbolt port I will break out the file to make it fit.

God, those things look awful... what's the point in buying the best looking aluminum laptop in the world and then covering it with orange (or blue, or purple) plastic rubber?

I was able to plug in a Thunderbolt and Mini DisplayPort - they could make more space but it works.
